I don't mind her. She is good sometimes but sometimes it is like
" WHAT?! Katie Cassidy must not be pleased!"

She rubs me the wrong way,as fanfly would say.It could be Kripke's alteration of Ruby's character that I don't like which I have combined with Cortese's appearance on the show but Genevieve has the same expression over and over again.You can't tell whether Ruby is sad,angry,happy or even horny!And the whole sex scene,OMG!
I doubt it suits Ruby's darker side this season,Kassidy would be and was perfect for that aspect of her character even if she was a little too butch for my taste.Genevieve is supposed to show a more human side(?) but there is sth I don't like about her acting.I don't know.Maybe it's only me.

I kind of like that Genevieve plays Ruby with a poker face. It makes her more mysterious; her motives have always been a mystery to me. Also, I think Ruby's antics in S3 really sucked attention away from the boys. Whereas in S4, she serves her purpose; to facilitate Sam's descent (or rise depending on how you view it). Genevieve's poker face really makes Ruby an ambiguous character- which is what they're going for. They don't want you to be sure that she's good or evil. I like that.

Genevieve is supposed to show a more human side? I agree, salemslot, that human side isn't exactly showing! I see Ruby's role as darker this season, esp. with her drawing Sam more and more to the dark side. (Whether or not he is in control is a big ?, though.) In that sense, I like her brooding sulkiness. Katie did bring a lot more sass and character to Ruby and made her very likable for a demon - sort of what Christopher Heyerdahl did for Alastair.

I agree with your assessment of Genevieve/Ruby this season, fanfly. That's it exactly; her character is more ambiguous, and Genevieve portrays that well.

Wtf lady. First of all, there have been MANY popular female characters (Mary Winchester, Meg, Ellen Harvelle, even old!Ruby, Sarah, Madison, Pamela, I could go on) and second of all: it is your JOB to play a PART and MAKE fans like you.

She is a terrible, wooden actress. Like other people have said: she doesn't change her expression, speech, behavior, nothing. She's the same in every scene. This show is so full of fantastic actors and actresses, if it's a good episode I'm totally sucked in and in my own Supernatural world. I'm watching real humans on screen interact. Whenever 'Gen' comes on screen I don't see a real human being, I'm seeing someone act, or TRYING to act. It jars and dislocates the whole scene.

And her lisp bugs me the hell out.

I miss Katie Cassidy! I still remember how awesome Ruby was when she first came on the show, I saw her as such a bad ass I loved it! She was one of my favorite caracters untill they changed the actress.

Miss her so much! And the impala is a better actor x)

Gosh she's awesome.

She's an awful actress. Katie Cassidy added more depth and fire to the role. Cortese is just dull and monotonous with her expressionless face. Cassidy's also a lot sexier.

She really isn't a very good actress. She just has this awkward, unconvincing thing going on, and no matter how much I try to like her in this role, I can't get past it. There's something about her inflectionless, emotionless voice that drives me nuts. Her acting reminds me of high school drama class, when kids are more concerned with remembering their lines than actually being the character. As a person, she seems very sweet and adorable, but I feel her talents lie somewhere other than acting.
