Hello one and all. Yes, this is icuSTALKER, here to address a few maswali on the one character everyone hates: Jason.

Before wewe decide to press the ‘exit’ button and go back to your meebo conversation, I’ve got a few things to say. I ranted about this very same thing on Meef’s question: Does anyone like Jason?
Then when I was done with my rant and had ilitumwa it, I realized it was two pages long. So I settled for an makala instead.

Ready?

Good. Sit tight.

I am hearing Jason being called these things: a Percy wanna-be, prideful, selfish, mean, arrogant, a jerk, a coward, and a cheap copy of Percy. Because I am a verified Jason fan, I'm here to merely state my opinion of Jason, the good points I see in him, what may be behind the bad points, and the backup I thought was valid from Rick Riordan's the one and only 'The Lost Hero. :D

I'm going to kick off with a simple statement: Jason is a character. Pretty simple, right? But I’m not quite sure it’s exactly nice to say you're going to stab him in the chest over and over just because wewe hate him for whatever reason, but okay (seriously, I’ve seen that XD). I find it funny that people go overboard with their passion to kill him with all their heart, mind, and strength. He's a character and RR is going to do what he wants with him, right? People can do what they want to him in their own stories; make him seem mean, jealous, stupid, etc. But here’s what I was wondering: if wewe want to be a good writer, don’t wewe have to stay on the character's personality? When was Jason ever mean? When was he ever selfish? Did he hog the glory and attention?

My answer: No. He did not. As a matter of fact, he was the exact opposite. Examples:
“I’m sorry,” Jason said. “I think my being here – I don’t know. I’ve messed things up coming to camp, somehow. Chiron alisema he swore an oath and couldn’t talk about it.”
-Jason Grace, The Lost Hero, pg. 99

We see here something: Jason is apologizing something he’s not even responsible for. To me, this seems like he could apologize all over the place about things he wasn’t the cause of. So he’s a gentleman, and he’s willing to take responsibility for something that’s not his fault. Somehow, he’s determined to make the impression he is one of the causes of this whole mess, and not Hera. He knows he’s not responsible, but what does he do? Lays out the problem and apologizes. Who protects the Queen of the Gods? Apparently Jason, whether he knows it au not. Even toward the end of the book, he doesn’t completely hate on Hera and accepts the fact that she’s his patron.

See? All us ladies prefer gentlemen, don’t we? XD *glares at Twiggy* No, Twiggy, I’m totally kidding about that! :D I just felt like saying that. XD Sorry!

Back on track.

Piper caught Jason’s eye. He mouthed, You all right? She nodded and managed a smile, but then looked away.
-Piper McLean, The Lost Hero, pg. 122

Now what do we see? This is what I’m seeing: caring and love. He cares about her and is making sure she’s all right. According to some people, Jason is a selfish, arrogant jerk. I ask you, is that what wewe see here? To me, it’s an obvious no.

Rachel paused, as if giving Jason a chance to protest his destiny. Everyone’s eyes were on him; there was so much pressure, Piper thought she would’ve buckled in his position. Yet he looked brave and determined. He set his jaw and nodded. “I agree.”
-Piper McLean, The Lost Hero, pg. 125

This can be perceived in two ways: one side says this means Jason is stealing all the glory and will be the new leader of the camp. Well, isn’t he supposed to lead the two camps? I don’t think Percy can do that kwa himself, do you? I take this as an action that takes guts and shows Jason is trying to help, even trying to help a supposed enemy that his feelings beep on and people he doesn’t even know. Would wewe help a random, smoking, tobacco chewing stranger? Probably not. I know the Greeks aren’t like that, but Jason’s spirit repels their presence because they’re Greek and he’s Roman. Yet he helps them. Does he need to make an impression? No. He had the choice, despite Hera’s interventions.

I’m done with examples for now. If wewe want more, ask me.

My ujumla, jumla opinion: Jason is a Roman, respectful, and he's like Percy in many ways, yes. People can think otherwise but that's how I see him. He called Leo annoying. But may I say, he was under a spell and he did apologize later. Is this Percy? Yes. If he's like Percy, why don't wewe like him?

wewe can't blame RR for copying Percy's character. First off, in your eyes, Percy is pretty much 'perfect', am I right? He's grown on you, has been maturing under your eyes, and wewe KNOW him because of the first point of view on one character. This is not the case with Jason, right? Because he lacks the first person point of view, readers don't know him as well and they compare him with Percy, of whom the audience know better. So therefore, not only has the reader Lost the ability to learn about Jason, but wewe have made him look like a Percy wanna-be kwa comparing him with Percy. May I remind you, he hasn't even met Percy yet. So if he doesn't know Percy, how could he want to be like him? Sure, he may have heard some rumors about how great a hero Percy is, but did the book say any stories? wewe don't know Jason's past, wewe don't know his adventures, and who knows? Maybe he did something better than Percy.

This is the first thought that comes to your mind about this idea: how absurd! Jason is a stupid weakling and Percy is far zaidi superior. Team Percy!!!

Nope.

I don't mind if anyone hates Jason. What I do mind is the comparing of Jason to Percy. Each has their advantages and disadvantages. They're equal. What evidence is there to back up Jason is selfish, mean, and stupid? I really can’t find any, so if you do, then please let me know.
I think he may be prideful at times but I believe he has something called bravado. Bravado is pretending to be brave. Did he do that? Yes. That doesn't mean he's weak. For a kid younger than Percy, he's pretty accomplished. Has Percy had bravado? Yes he has. He pretends to be brave so he can protect his friends. Jason may have sounded arrogant when he used bravado, but he's Roman. Romans are specifically trained to not onyesha weakness, and since he was raised kwa Lupa, this practice is enforced. To sound arrogant is good because it shows you're in charge and wewe can keep the steady flow going. wewe know what to do. That's what Jason has been trained in. So how is Percy better au worse than him?

He's not.

They're equal. wewe may think differently of Jason because of who's his father. But are all demigod kids like their parents? No. Look at Frank. He and Mars are nothing alike. Jason has chosen to step up and help lead the demigods. This doesn't mean he will steal all the glory and Percy will be left as an outsider. That's not the case. Jason alisema so himself in The Lost Hero he wasn't ready to lead and he didn't want to.

Jason took a deep breath. “I understand all that. It’s okay. I’m going to try my best. I’ll try to make wewe proud. But I could really use some guidance, Dad. If there’s anything wewe can do – help me so I can help my friends. I’m afraid I’ll get them killed. I don’t know how to protect them.”
-Jason Grace, The Lost Hero, pg. 542

An interesting speech toward his dad. He doesn’t have confidence, but he is younger than Percy and he doesn’t want to do it. But he still does. This is an example of Percy’s character in the first book au so.

Jason had to stand up and face his destiny, just as he had done when he faced Porphyrion with his bare hands. Sure, it seemed impossible. He might die. But his friend were counting on him.
-Jason Grace, The Lost Hero, pg. 546

Again, he accepted the challenge when all hope and pressure was on him. Jason isn’t naïve. He’s prepared for the worst to happen, and he still takes on the task. Bravery? That’s what I think.
He knew it was a big responsibility. Who would want to do it? But because of the way he was raised and because people look up to him, it's zaidi like he's forced to do it. Otherwise, what would he be? The same person everyone who hates him thinks he is now. Labeled a coward and selfish. Why is he selfish if he steps down? Because he's leaving everyone else to the war. Why is he a coward? Because he stepped down. But he didn't step down, and that takes guts. There's the risk of failure and false thinking of him that because he's leader, he'll order them around like slaves. No. And that's because, as wewe people said, he's a copy of Percy. This does not mean he wants to take Percy's place and is a Percy wanna-be. It just means he's a copy. If he wasn't a copy, he'd be the selfish, stupid, mean, lame, cowardly, arrogant jerk everyone thinks he is. Would wewe like him then? Definitely not. So why change his character to something different so wewe hate him more? What's the point?

Now I’m going to address an answer I found on the swali ‘Even though RR is trying so hard to onyesha that Jason is a hero, I think he’s just a cheap copy of Percy.’ And this time, I’m using the wise words of the one and only Meef, who I found worded my thoughts almost perfectly. Sorry Meef! :P I just found it to be a good answer.
Meef picked the answer: I disagree.

“I disagree to a certain extent as Jason is a completely new character with nothing in relation to Percy. They share leadership and skill qualities, but other than that they are barely copies of each other. They both have completely different backgrounds, one being a boy who was mistreated kwa his stepfather and whatever, the other a boy who was taken away from his family at young. Therefore both are different as they come from different families, different aspects of the same god and also have a different upbringing, so they are not copies.”

I clap for you, Meef. In this paragraph, wewe worded my thoughts exactly. They do, in fact, have different pasts, different families, and different raising. So no, in my opinion, Jason isn’t a copy. They’ve got, as Meef said, some qualities to share and leadership skills. Thank you, Meef.

“However, I agree to a certain extent as Jason was obviously introduced to rival Percy. Percy was doing fine on his own but Jason had to butt in and take over the first book. The first book was interesting, but it was mostly about three characters we knew nothing about, and a little of the others we know so dearly. The sekunde book, although inaonyesha Percy also brought in two zaidi characters and was kind of boring in my opinion. But eventually it is Percy who overshadows Jason as he is able to bring glory back to the fifth cohort, unlike Jason who was praetor and couldn't do schist.”

I apologize for taking out that one word. Yes, that’s the word I mean. That one word. THE word, and- actually, never mind. Well, the word I replaced with ‘schist’. :D

This is the part where I found some things I disagree with, no offense. Jason butt in the first book for a reason, and that reason was Hera, yes? He didn’t take over the first book, in my opinion. I’m not sure he was meant to rival Percy. I believe they will have disagreements and will struggle a little with sharing power, with Percy being the Greek’s leader and Jason used to being praetor. Of course they will. A Greek and a Roman. I do believe they’ll try their hardest to get along and accept the other’s ideas. They’re Jason and Percy, two leaders, examples, and sensitive to other’s feelings, yes? I also found the sekunde book a little boring as well and not as light-hearted :P. Just because it has Percy in it doesn’t mean it’s my favorite. I also disagree with Jason not doing anything for the fifth cohort when he was praetor. As far as I’m concerned, we don’t know his past and he was praetor for a few months, after the Titan War, so there is nothing to fix au help the fifth cohort with. Some ask that if he’s so great, then why didn’t he became praetor sooner? Well, I doubt the Romans would let a kid fourteen and under help rule an entire camp full of families and over two hundred demigods, regardless if they were smart and would be good lawmakers anyway.

“Therefore I dislike bubbles.”

Wait, why the fudge is this on my Microsoft Word document anyway? I thought I took it off. Um, I guess, in addressing this bila mpangilio statement, I’ll conclude that Meef is a troll? Haha, ask Liz au Hollister au look at Meef’s motto. I think Liz disagrees with this statement as she goes on about bubbles. Quite frankly, I have to agree with you, Meef. I dislike bubbles as well XD

Anyway, back on track!

His approach to upendo triangles: ah, we all want to know that, don't we? If he approaches it the same way Percy did, is he still a Percy wanna-be? Keep in mind, he doesn't know Percy's past. If he approaches it in a harsh I-don't- have-time-for-this way, who can blame him? A lot of people would blow up as well. In fact, they would blow up in frustration, wouldn't they? I would because I wouldn't take it anymore. Are the people any zaidi hated because they did that? No because several people support them. But if Jason is hated and he really hasn't had time to prove himself, then the tiniest mistake will set a rebellion and, frankly, an I- hate-Jason shabiki club.

To wrap, upangaji pamoja this up, I don’t believe Jason is a bad guy. I don’t believe he’s the snobby person some people say he is.

This is just my view and my opinion. Contradict me if wewe will, but please be nice about it. I just needed to rant and I hope wewe don't mind. Sorry :)

Thank wewe for taking your time to hear out what I have to say, though wewe may not like it. Thanks to Meef because I kind of borrowed what he alisema without his approval (I’m so sorry, Meef!) and thanks to all of wewe guys who are listening. And in addition, I hope Twiggy didn’t fall asleep like he alisema he would if I were teaching an essay class :D

Peace out.

A/N: I do not in any way own the characters presented in this story, they belong to RIck Riordan. Furthermore I am no zaidi affiliated with R.R. than the man in the moon. This story was inspired kwa a cnversation on one of my makala and is in no way a representation of the actual story told in the Lost Hero. The happenings in this story are based on some theories that I find interesting.

I stared blankly at the wall, where am I?
"Percy!? Percy?! Are wewe here?"
I could hear someone calling from somewhere outside of my prison. I could tell from the gruff voice that it had to be a guy. He sounded...

Names, places, some things are bound to sound familiar. But where in the Percy Jackson world have we heard some of them?

1 The Grand Cayon

No, the place itself wasn't mentioned. But do wewe know where the Grand Canyon is? Arizona. Arizona ring a bell? That's where...
a) Clarisse's mom lives
b) Where Chris Rodriguez was found after he exited the labyrinth

Fun fact: Chief Architect and Decorator for the Fred Harvey Company/ Santa Fe Railroad Mary Colter designed a lot of the most unique buildings along the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Dinning, shoping, sleeping ect. Rick might put her as a daughter...

Who are the Three left? That would be a correct answer. What is going on.

Three characters were found previously.

Frank Zhang-

Frank, a new ally of Percy, has the last name of Zhang - as in "Master of Bows". With this trusty weapon at his side, this chubby-cheeked boy is primed to become one powerful demigod.

What does it do? This handy piece of weaponry is Frank's go-to tool of choice in battle, with pitch-perfect aim and easy mobility. He can carry it around, just like a backpack.

Noteworthy: A master of weaponry, Frank has a few other tools at his disposal, including...
