I kicked a pebble across the side walk. He said he was gonna come home, he promised he would. My eyes grew wet, he only cares about his stupid magazine. Nothing else, he wanted to be the first to get the story, the first at every chance he got, except for coming home. Couldn't he pass this one up? Couldn't he just wait for maybe a week, no, he couldn't. "The chance is to good to miss. Maybe next time? " he would say. Grandma was always there trying to convince me he was trying his hardest. Even she could see that he wanted to only focus on his job, nothing else.
