Britain's latest girl group release their debut pop album, following the success of this summer's juu ten hit, If This Is Love. The Saturdays are a feel-good five-piece act, with figures to die for and manicures to match. Of course, they look better than they sing, but hey, what did wewe expect? Destiny's Child were clearly a one off.
Infused with heavy helpings of disco, Chasing Lights is a brazen pop album, brimming with catchy hooks, girly melodies and light-hearted, uplifting beats. Sounding like an 80s throwback, the ladies' lead single If This Is upendo opens the album with its synth-heavy sound. inayofuata is hivi karibuni single Up- a massive sing-a-long song, which should make Girls Aloud very scared indeed.
Flicking through the tracks, slow jam, jamu Issues leaps out as a standout number and if the marketing team play it right, this has all the potential to become that perfect krisimasi hit. Meanwhile, tracks like Work and Lies can be skipped in an instant and have "filler" written all over. The album title track is another emotional ballad with all the markings of a chart hit, while the UK bonus Wideboys remix of ‘Up’ is cool pop genius. With plenty zaidi chart potential, expect to be hearing and seeing a lot zaidi from The Saturdays.
