Chapter Three

    “ Hello there, Wendi. Would wewe like to sit with us today?”, Colleen alisema in a sweet beautiful voice. I nodded and sat, too amazed to speak. Jacob spoke next. “ Cat got your tongue?”, he teased. I smiled and blushed. “Leave her alone, Jacob. wewe are too scary for her to talk to you. Just listen to how fast her moyo is going.”, Leo said. Colleen gave him a sharp look and he was silent.
    I had no clue what they meant but they were slightly weird. As I thought this, Carmen sneered and giggled. “ Shut it, Carmen.”, Colleen said. “ Wendi, would wewe like to be my first friend here?”, she asked. “ Um.. Sure, that would be great. Colleen grinned from ear to ear, just like a Cheshire cat. I looked at Stefan and he was smiling, too. They were all smiling, inaonyesha their fangs. Carmen drew in a short breath. Was she kusoma my mind au something? Every time I alisema anything like fangs au mind reading, she tightened up and clenched her jaw. Once again, weird.
    The kengele rang and I noticed that I had forgotten to eat. Apparently, so had they. Another short breath from Carmen. Stefan and I went to our inayofuata class with small talk on things like the weather and projects due. “ Do wewe have plans inayofuata Saturday night?” Wow. Was he asking me on a date? “ No, I don’t think so. Why?”, I asked. “ I want to take wewe to dinner. Would wewe go?” Wow, Stefan had asked me out!!!! “ um.. Sure, of course . When will wewe pick me up?”
    We made plans for inayofuata Saturday about six thirty. As we entered the class, he held the door open for me. Everyone stared, of course. He sat in front of me and turned around in the kiti, kiti cha and just looked at me. My moyo did funny things.
