'Twilight’ Sucks… And Not In A Good Way

"First and foremost, the books present a female heroine who can hardly take a step without needing some boy to rescue her."

Duh. This is what makes Bella, well, Bella. If she wasn't like that, she wouldn't be as likeable (she's still only borderline with me now) and we'd have no plot. This person doesn't like it, fine. For every person who writes a review like this, there are probably 10 angry fangirls ready to beat her with one of the books. LOL. =P

that was pretty insulting!
the twilight saga is very well written, and not to mention addictive series of books.
if they aren't good books then why are there so many people who love them?
gah!

Ok first of all , I think that whoever wrote this "Article" is most likely a gay , over protective feminist. Ok so if you don't like twilight saga , don't go rant about it and drag everyone else into your own personal hell.I don't like corn dogs , Not gonna write a hate essay to show everyone who does like them that they are wrong!
I am going to write an article of my own in response to this hate letter so look for it!

OMG? .. Stephanie Meyer did NOT fail!
She has made one of the most romantic books I've ever read - and if this person can't deal with that, then it's okay - but she does not need to insult Stephanie and people who like the book.

She is seriously mucked up! How can she not see that Twilight is fantastic! I just feel sorry for her because she must be so bitter inside that she cant enjoy a bit of fluffy writing! Also cant she see that she is kind of wrong- theres probably 1 million people who love Twilight to one who hates it.

Thanks for bringing this article to my attention- she's EVIL lol!

Overall, the Twilight series lacked a lot in the literary sense. I think the author of that article read the book too literary and didn't mind to use her imagination much.

Oh well, I was disappointed that nobody close to Bella actually died in the book. I was once a devoted Harry Potter fan. Guessing at who was going to die was always fun.

Can you say fiction? So if there can't be a clumsy heroine, can there really be a clan of "vegetarian" vampire and shape shifting werewolves? Come on, let those of us who love these books enjoy them and use our imagination! In the land of fiction, anything can be true!

i dont think she has imagination at all otherwise she would have loved these books. and she should give kids more credit. they do know the difference between real life and fiction. thats why i love to read books... i get to go to a whole new world that i can never go to in the real world. these books rock. i wish i had an edward in my life.... and i think SM did a really great job specially since shes a new author. i cant wait for MS to come out!!!! i like bella being clumsy its funny to me and i get to roll my eyes and laugh ( i am also a clumsy person so i feel for her) SM is awesome!! clearly the person that wrote this has no imagination at all.

its fine to have your own opinions about stuff (i.e. twilight) but i think writing such a harsh article and posting it on the internet is taking it too far. Its just completely unnecessary, and the criticism is way too harsh and your whole article is completely exaggerated.

Hi, I didn't fully read the article, but I understand you're all offended, as everyone who reads this can.

First off, I'd like to ask how calling the author gay (which I don't appreciate being used as an insult) and other swear words that I will not rewrite is better then her/him calling Twilight bad things? Sometimes you just have to be the better person and be the one to stay mature.

Secondly, when the author says bad messages she's reffering to the Twilight fans who just take it too far. I'm a fan of the Harry Potter vs Twilight spot, and I have seen icons that say "Edward Cullen can bite my pillows and bust my headboard any day". I saw that, go look for it, you'll find it, and the discussion was fans talking about how the person who made that would be extremely vulnerable if she did encounter an abusive boyfriend in real life, because they're out there. Then a Twilight fan came in and said "HOW COUD U SAY TAT!!!! EDWARD CULEN CAN SO BIT MI PILOWS!!!1!!"

Right there that's the example of what the author was talking about, but she probably oversees the intelligent and reasonable fans out there, which isn't fair, nor is the fact the article was 100% bash.

When I'm saying this I don't mean to change you opinions, they're yours to keep, or be trouble. I just thoguht that that point should be put out there. Please take thta in consideration before you hurt me if you do.

And if you're wondering why a non-fan is here, I got this link through an article, I don't lurk around the spot waiting to cause trouble.

Yeah....have to be honest, I understand the concern. Women aren't meant to obsess over a single guy to the point that they go zombie when said guy leaves them - or, they can, but only short term. I think it is a good message to put out there, especially if you do so because you feel the book could be problematic to the development of young women as independent human beings confident in their own self-worth without needing some guy to feel special. And before we get started on the whole "difference between fiction and reality" issue, I think we should point out that young people -this books target audience - are very impressionable, and can be strongly influenced even by fictitious novels.
