After school, I was able to find Foster walking nyumbani alone. I sped up a little bit to catch up with him.
"Hi," I said, a little nervous. He raised an eyebrow at me.
"Are wewe done uigizaji like that?" he asked. I opened my mouth to protest, but stopped. I sighed. I couldn't do this. He was one of the few people that loved me for me. I didn't want to ruin that.
"Yes," I alisema quietly. He was quiet for a moment, then smiled. He pulled me into a hug.
"It's ok, I forgive you," he alisema cheerfully. I smiled a little bit, relieved. It scared me to have him angry with me. We went nyumbani and hung out for a while, and everything seemed to go back to normal. "Wanna go to the movies?" he asked. I nodded, and we left.
We were only half way down the block, when Lowell showed up.
"Foster..?" he asked, confused. "What the fuck are wewe doing with her?"
"I... Uh..." Foster stuttered. I looked back and forth between them.
"I thought wewe alisema wewe hated her," Lowell said, incredulous. "And what about Tracy?! I thought wewe were crazy about her?!"
"What?" I whimpered. Had he really alisema that about me? And who the hell was Tracy?! Foster looked at me, stunned.
"I... I..." he never finished a sentence. Lowell looked confused like the rest of us. I turned and ran away, embarrassed and ashamed.
"Cosette? What's wrong?" Grandma asked when I burst through the door. I had nowhere to go. Now was another moment when I really wished I had my own room. I threw myself on the couch, and cried. I couldn't even explain to Grandma what had happened.
A while later, Foster knocked on the door. I got control of myself enough that I was able to go out on the porch and talk to him.
"Hey," he said. "Um... Do wewe still wanna go to the sinema with me?" I stared at him, skeptical.
"Are wewe kidding me?" I asked. He stared at me sadly. "No!"
"Oh, come on! You're overreacting!" he insisted.
"How am I overreacting?! wewe told your best friend wewe hate me! And you're going out with someone else?!" He sighed, and looked away from me.
"Come on, Cosette..." he alisema quietly. I shook my head.
"Fuck you, Foster," I said. I went inside, closing the door in his face. I wasn't sure how to feel yet. For now at least, I was relieved.

I didn't bother to even acknowledge him at school. We were over. I didn't even want to be Marafiki in the least.
"What's going on between wewe two?" Echo asked. The kengele rang just then.
"I'll tell wewe at lunch," I said.
***
"...that fucker!" Echo shouted. I quickly out my hand over her mouth. We were in the hallway; teachers could be lurking anywhere... She took my hand off her, and started pacing. "How could he do that to you?! He's such a jerk! Now, I don't wanna say it, 'cause I know you're probably hurting right now, but I told wewe so! Did I not?! Ugh!"
"You did," I sighed. She was right. She'd known from the beginning that something just wasn't right about Foster. And I'd ignored her.
"I'm gonna go kick his ass..." Echo grumbled.
"No!" I shouted. I grabbed her hand and tried to pull her back, but she was quite determined. I pulled with all my strength, and she ended up dragging me down the hallway, slowly, but she was still managing. "Echo! Don't!" I shouted.
"What are wewe girls doing?" a voice asked. We looked down the hallway, where a teacher was standing; his hands on his hips. I could only imagine what he saw. A "goth girl" being dragged across the floor on her stomach, kwa a little girl the size of a toothpick. It was pathetic, really. I'm a weakling.
"Uh... Drama club," I answered quickly. He sighed, shaking his head.
"Well, keep it down," he said, stalking off. I looked back up at Echo. She shrugged.
"Good call. I was just gonna say wewe bet I couldn't pull you." I rolled my eyes.
"Are wewe done?" I asked. She bit her lip, contemplating.
"Yeah..." she sighed. I got up, and let out a deep breath. I'd actually been putting up quite a fight. Echo was strong. She looked past me, and her eyes widened. I furrowed my eyebrows and turned around, but there was nothing.
"What?" I asked. I turned around, and she was gone. "Dammit!" I shouted. I ran down the hallway, looking for her. She's also fast. I just saw her leg as she disappeared into the lunchroom. I swore again, and ran in after her.
But I was too late.
The whole cafeteria laughed and "ooh"ed as Echo poured a carton of maziwa all over Foster's head. He sat there, disgusted and utterly surprised.
"That's what wewe get for hurting Cosette!" Echo told him. My jaw dropped. She smiled at me, and mouthed "your welcome."
***
"Hey," I said. "How'd it go?" Echo shrugged.
"I have a week's detention. But it was worth it."
"I can't believe wewe did that."
"You're my best friend. I have to stick up for you. Plus... I've always wanted to do that!" she smiled hugely. I laughed, shaking my head.
"You're so weird..." I giggled.
"But wewe upendo me anyways," she grinned. "Well, I'd best be on my way to detention," she sighed. "See ya later!" She literally skipped off to detention. She's a strange child.
I started on my way home.
"Cosette?" a voice said. I almost groaned. I turned to see him.
"What the fuck do wewe want?" I asked.
"I'm... I'm sorry I hurt you," Foster said.
"You should be," I alisema quietly. He grimaced at the truth.
"I know... But... I wanted wewe to know. I wasn't lying when I alisema I upendo you. I do. I just... I was using Tracy as a cover."
"I don't get what the hell you're talking about, Foster."
"I guess.... I guess I was kind of embarrassed to be going out with the outcast. I didn't want anyone to know, so I asked Tracy out."
"I see..." I sighed. He looked at me, suddenly hopeful.
"So wewe understand?" I nodded.
"You're an ass, Foster. I understand that perfectly now." I turned and left.
"Cosette, I---"
"Just leave me alone!" I shouted, not looking back. This was getting harder. A part of me still loved him. But I was in upendo with what I thought he was. Not the actual Foster.
