Three Years Ago
The breeze was a welcome accomplice on the hot-as-Hades day. It blew past, pulling at her hair, her clothes, the yelps of joy that escaped her and her companion.
The leader of the pair glanced back over his shoulder. She was right on his wheels, so close she could make out his deep sapphire irises. He grinned and looked forward.
"You okay back there, kid?" he called.
"Right behind you, Nic!" Aryess assured him, panting slightly. She peddaled a bit harder, finally matching handle bars with him. They slowed to a stop as the tracks neared and the gaurd rail lowered.
Aryess and Nic glanced at each other as a train raced by. They were both panting, but also grinning. His was zaidi of a smirk, hers a gitty beam. There wasn't a single word passed between them, but the challenge was made.
The train's final car roared past and the rail pulled up. Before it was even fully lifted, both kids had taken off, over the tracks, and down the road. Racing to the finish.

Present Day
It wasn't difficult to keep up with him now. There motorcycles exelerated at the same rate. It helped that she was lighter than he was, less weight for the cycle to carry, ergo, quicker.
Nic's reflexes though, were that of a trained driver. Where Ary had spent years perfecting her roof hopping and ghosting, he had aliyopewa zaidi time to learning the art of weaving in and out of traffic.
Their third companion kept up just as well, following one second, then weaving to lead the next.
"How wewe doing back there?" Nic alisema into the comm built into his kofia, chapeo without turning, keeping his eyes mbele as he sped up.
"Right here," Ary responded, pulling up inayofuata to him. Alek caught up to match them on Nic's other side. They stayed in an even line until breaking off to avoid a collision with a large delivery truck.
"That was a close call!" Alek exclaimed through the comm link.
"I've had closer," Nic countered. Ary only shook her head at his arrogance.
The three slowed at a stop light. The glittering silver, sleek black, and shining gold-streaked-white cycles made up quite an array as they paused, side kwa side kwa side.
Nic looked to either side of him, glancing at his companions. Alek and Aryess knew the smirk that hid beneath his tinted visor.
All three opponents revved their engines and, the moment the light turned green, sped forward. Racing to the finish.
