Delanni Pier
7:56 p.m.
Tara lowered herself onto the sand, looking out to the sea and it's cresting waves. Kicking off her sandals, she wiggled her toes freely.
She was glad she had changed into her civvies after a session of training. It hadn't been her intention to come out here to the beach, but her legs had carried her here nonetheless.
Now, looking around at the empty beach, pwani in her tank-top and shorts, Tara enjoyed the momentary silence, accompanied kwa nothing zaidi than the cry of gulls and the slapping of waves as they greeted the surface. Feeling security in the solitude, she lifted her sunglasses and rested them on her head, fully taking in the vibrant colors.
Lost in the picture-perfect scene, Tara didn't notice him until he was only a few feet away, wearing an old t-shirt and board shorts. He waved to her, and she waved back. He grinned, as if he was relieved she had accepted his prescence, and walked up to her.
"Hey, you," he said, sitting down beside her.
"Hey, yourself," Tara greeted.
"What are wewe doing out here all on your own?" Alek asked. He looked around, as if expecting someone was hiding from sight.
"Looking for some peace and quiet," she answered.
The sun was a fiery ball, dropping under the herozion, painting the deep blue in violet purples, lemony yellows, and blood reds. It was truly breathtaking, and watching it, Tara felt the stress of life fade away with the sky's light.
"It's beautiful," she alisema without meaning to.
"It is," Alek agreed. He stood and kicked off his flip-flops, unable to sit still and simply watch. He waded into the shallow water of the ocean, the cool water as soothing as the quiet. Tara followed him, enjoying the invigorating cold as it washed over her bare skin.
The tide was coming in, consuming zaidi of the white sand, and the current was becoming stronger. As the waves grew taller, they pushed the 2 teenagers back a bit, as if guarding the sunset from them.
"Maybe we should go back to the-" Alek began to suggest, but was knocked off his feet be a strong swell. He splashed into the shallow water.
"Alek," Tara said, "Are wewe okay?" She couldn't help but giggling at the bewildered expression on his face.
"It's not that funny, Tara," he argued, blushing slightly as her giggling turned into laughter. He held up a hand toward her. "Just help me up, please?"
Feeling slightly guilty, Tara took Alek's hand, ready to haul him to his feet. She wasn't prepared for being pulled in herself.
"Aleksander!" she exclaimed upon finding herself soaked, the swells washing over her.
"I couldn't resist," he said, laughing now. Tara began to get up, but Alek gripped her wrist lightly. He cupped her cheek and pressed his lips to hers, in the blood red bath colored kwa the setting sun.
