“Okay. Who wants to play a game?” Becca asked, setting a bowl of M&M’s on the coffee table.
“I do!” Wally shouted. “What game?”
Becca ducked her head to hide her devious smirk as she sat on the floor. The others felt a little chill when the smirk on her face had moved to her eyes.
“Clue.”
“That's a boring game!”
“No it's not! At least not how I play it.”
Wally tilted his head as he caught Becca's smirk. Something was going to happen. But they agreed.
“How do wewe play?” Artemis asked.
“Everyone needs to sit on the floor. Around the coffee table.”
“Don't we need a board to play this?” Wally reminded as they did what Becca had instructed.
“No. Now, take each other's hands. Megan, link us up.”
“Are wewe sure?” the martian asked. “The last time we did something like this...”
“Trust me Megan. I know what I'm doing; I've practiced. Link us up.”
Megan nodded and connected all their minds together.
“Close your eyes,” Becca whispered.
They shut their eyes as Becca spoke again.
“Don't open them at all; if wewe do, you're out of the game. Now, Megan, I want wewe to release the psychic link. Good. No body freak out. I'm just going to alter our brain patterns a little and we should get a scene.”
Slowly, shapes started to appear. They were dark at first but, gradually, they began to get color. The scene in front of them appeared. A lush green estate spread out before them, maua, ua gardens bursting with brilliant colors of many shades. A mansion stood just up the road. Iron gates stood behind them and the sun was setting into a cloudy mist. Lights flicked on at the mansion as well as on the grounds.
“Welcome to the world of Clue,” Becca said.
She turned to them with a smile, arms open. She studied them for a dakika before narrowing her eyes.
“Hmmm...I almost forgot.”
She crossed her wrists above her head, index fingers pointing up. Magic exited her fingers and surrounded the Young Justice.
“What-Becca!”
“Hey! Uncool!”
“What are wewe doing?”
“What's going on?”
“I can't see a thing!”
“Becca. Stop.”
Becca laughed a little and dropped her magic. As the light faded away, the team found themselves dressed in formal attire. Which meant black tuxes for the guys and colorful dresses for the girls.
“Dude! Rob, you're girlfriend changed our clothes!” Wally exclaimed. “I feel violated!”
“You're such a moron,” Artemis teased.
“Enough. I just used a little mental power to arrange zaidi appropriate clothing.”
“What about you?” Wally asked.
“I wasn't finished. I did wewe first since you're new to the game. And because I control the board. Now, give me a minute.”
Becca used her magic on herself, trading in her jeans and t-shirt for a colorful dress.
“Now. Let's enter.”
“How? We aren't exactly real.”
“Actually, we are. To some extent. We're just in an astral plain far from Earth. Our minds are playing the game, I'm controlling the board, and wewe each represent a different character.”
“How?” Megan asked.
“Well, Connor is wearing the black ring. House of Black. Megan ,you are wearing a white dress. House of White. Artemis has a green dress. House of Green. Kaldur has a blue ring. House of Peacock. Robin has a yellow ring. House of Mustard. Wally has a purple ring. House of Plum. I'm wearing a red dress. House of Scarlet.”
“So each of us represents a colored house?” Wally asked.
“You each represent a member from that color house. They're secret societies. And this is the meeting house.”
“House of Rainbow?”
“No Wally. This is the House of Treasures. Inside is every kind of hidden treasure wewe can imagine. But wewe need to solve riddles and mysteries to find them.”
“Like a puzzle?” Robin asked.
“Yes, Robin. One big puzzle. The treasures are different for each person.”
“How so?”
“Well, the house is enchanted. The dakika wewe step foot in it, the house will know your greatest treasure and your greatest desire. It will be able to conjure up any type of mirage it needs to make wewe stop playing and open your eyes.”
“The house is our enemy?” Connor asked.
“No. The house is your opponent.”
“You keep saying 'your', not 'our'. Why do wewe keep saying 'your'?” Wally asked nervously.
“Because the mystery begins when wewe step inside. I've played this game many times and I still haven't beaten it. But I know the rules and tricks. I'm helping wewe out.”
“What are the rules?” Artemis interjected.
“Two things: No help from anyone outside of the astrial plain. And no cheating.”
“How can wewe cheat with this game?” Megan wondered aloud.
“You'd be surprised. Oh one zaidi thing. If wewe find a weapon, take it with you.”
“What kind of weapon?”
“Rope, lead pipe, revolver, dagger, au candlestick.”
“Good to know,” Wally gulped.
Becca smirked.
“Let's play.”
She walked up to the house, entering the front door. When she got inside, she walked up a flight of stairs. She was heading down a hallway filled with armor when a dark shadow caught her eye.
“Oh! It's you. We're ready.”
The figure nodded before whispering in a husky voice.
“Let the games begin.”
