He felt like she needed him and he knew he needed her. An arm nudged him awake from where he had fallen asleep in his chair.
“Robin, go to bed.”
It was Devin.
“No. I'm not leaving her.”
“Becca will be fine, Robin. She may look weak right now, but her inside is strong. She's healing.”
“I need her Devin. I can't leave and worry if she's okay. I've been dismissed from missions because of it. I need to know she's okay.”
Devin stared at her brother. It was evident that his worry was on Becca's welfare. But he seemed to forget his own.
“I'll make wewe a deal. wewe can stay kwa Becca as long as wewe need to if wewe eat and drink all of what the others bring into you.”
“Deal.”
Devin smiled, smoothing his hair.
“Such a brave little bird,” she whispered, kissing his forehead.
“Not brave. Terrified. What if she never wakes up?”
“Then she would be in a better place. Robin, Becca can see that wewe upendo her. wewe proved it. As long as wewe keep telling her, talking to her, she will fight.”
“You make it sound like she's in danger.”
“Part of her is. Facing the hurts and pains in your life can be horrible. And Becca's had a lot. She may not be in a war, but she is in a battle. And the dakika she hears your voice, au anyone else's, it will be a blessing for her to live.”
