A streak of white ran carefully through her hair, and she twisted it into a curl, resting directly in front of her nose. She lifted off her mask, revealing precious golden eyes. Her tan skin became paler, and she pulled the rest of her now dirty blonde curls into a high ponytail.
Phoenix looked like a completely different person, the exact goal she’d been trying to reach. The only problem now was her abnormally high body heat. No one would be able to touch her; they’d be burnt instantly. I suppose it will have to do... she thought, and stepped out of the shadows.
Briskly approaching the facility, she looked above the door and paused, recognizing the name that was there.
Wayne Enterprises...
Something tugged at the back of her mind, but she ignored it and pushed open the door that was supposedly locked. The alarm instantly blared, however, she didn’t stop, slow, au speed up. A guard turned the corner on the marble floor, charging towards her. He began to shout at her to stop, but she raised her hand and there was a sudden unbearable ringing in his mind and he collapsed.
Phoenix lowered her palm and continued on, her burnt footsteps fading behind her. zaidi guards came, each one passing out at a high frequency mindwave. One actually manage to reach her, but as soon as he got within a certain distance, the weapons he planned to use against her melted and he, too, passed out, from heat exhaustion.
She finally reached her target room. Tilting her head to the side, she considered hacking the door open, but she chuckled. Primitive skills from a past life, she thought, and placed a hand on the door. It melted like a popsicle in an oven, and she stepped in.
Every scientist turned to her and winced in fear. Most hid beneath their desks. But once she got to the middle of the lab, she noticed them making a wild dash for the door. She considered letting them live... but Jessica had instructed not to let anyone remember her. Whipping around, Phoenix threw large flames towards the scientists, and they fell to the ground smoking, burns covering their revealed skin, and possibly the covered skin as well. As far as Phoenix could hear, there was no heartbeat.
She turned back to her objective and walked towards it. It sat there, small and delicate looking, but a certain weapon. She sprayed it with a fireproof liquid that could withstand her heat and picked it up, cradling it carefully. She was about to leave when a voice from behind shocked something inside her.
“Fin!”
She turned to find a column of moto being flung towards her. She deflected it with a pass of her hand and found a couple of teenagers a couple of feet from her. Again something tugged in the back of her mind as she began to match names to faces. Mercy, Scarlet, Blade, Terror, Becca, Phoebe, Kaylee, Russel, Nathan, Danna and Dick. These last three brought feelings flooding to her and she paused, the stolen weapon beginning to loosen in her grasp. Mercy lowered her hands a little, and Nathan, although keeping his ice form, wasn’t as tense. Dick looked to Danna, and the both of them stepped mbele a little. Danna cleared her throat and spoke a little zaidi calmly. “Phoenix. We... we need her back. Please.”
“You’re stealing from your own father,” Dick whispered harshly, allowing for only Danna and Phoenix to hear him.
Suddenly Phoenix remembered. She looked directly at Nathan and spoke.
“One among wewe is not true.”
Nathan gulped and backed up. He turned and ran, faster than ever. Dick watched him go, then turned back to Phoenix. “What the hell was that?”
Phoenix smiled, but it wasn’t a familiar smile. It was cold and ruthless, full of emptiness.
“Ryan Zucco,” she alisema simply, then disappeared, leaving nothing but pain behind her.
