She was running along the street, a blur to all. She did a few tricks over cars, going too fast for any one to appreciate them. She laughed, enjoying her fun. She skidded to a stop when she saw a blonde haired boy in a black trench kanzu, koti running away. She looked at him for a minute. Why was he running? She raced towards him.
“Hey softie!” she yelled teasingly.
The boy stopped, turning to her. He scowled.
“Shut up Erin!”
She stopped in front of him.
“Awww! C'mon Terror! I was just playing!”
“I don't give a care. Leave me alone!”
Terror turned to leave, but Erin grabbed his wrist. A bag fell from underneath his trench coat. Terror looked at it. He yanked his arm back and moved to pick it up. Erin beat him to it.
“What's in here?”
“None of your business!”
“True.”
Erin reached inside, pulling out a small blade. Her eyes widened.
“Terror!”
He grabbed the blade from her hand.
“What...what are wewe doing with that?”
“What do wewe think?”
Erin looked at him, watching as he twirled the blade in his hand.
“You know wewe can't.”
“Why not?”
“You're a hero for one. Second, wewe CAN go to jail.”
Terror scowled again. He twirled the blade in his hand before throwing it. Erin watched the blade lodge itself in a tree.
“I don't know what else to do.”
“Terror. You've had other girlfriends. Other break ups. Why is this one different?”
“...I upendo her, Erin. But I can't have her. She doesn't want me.”
“So what? Her loss. Besides, they won't last long. And when she comes back to you, you'll have someone else. Kinda the one that got away thing.”
“You're wrong Erin.”
“No I'm not. The same happened to me. I fell in upendo but he went away. Now I have another love. And he can keep up with me.”
“You are! She was the one Erin!”
Terror sat on the ground and Erin slowly sat inayofuata to him. She looked at him and then at her hands.
“You mean...she was THE one?”
“Yes, Erin. The one.”
“You sure?”
“Yes.”
Erin looked back at her hands. She took a deep breath.
“Terror, I don't know what to say.”
“Nothing to say. She's with another. Not a thing I can do.”
Erin blinked back a few tears.
“Crap.”
“What?” Terror asked.
“You got me crying.”
Terror looked at her. Erin had tears down her face and was blinking quickly.
“Erin-”
“Stop. I'll be okay in a sec.”
Erin wiped away the tears. She took a cleansing breath and then looked at him.
“How can wewe talk about her and not cry?”
“No zaidi tears to cry.”
“I hate him.”
“Who?”
Erin gave Terror a pointed look and Terror nodded.
“Ah. Him. Yeah so does Becca.”
“Its funny how everyone thinks wewe and Becca are like the best of friends.”
“When we aren't? Yeah I know.”
“If Sylver hadn't...you know, Becca would kick your ass.”
Terror smiled a little.
“I know.”
“Too bad.”
Erin was silent for a minute.
“We're best friends, right?”
“Yeah.”
“Then...why am I never there when wewe need me?”
Terror looked over at Erin. She was looking at him, relaxed.
“You speed around too much. wewe have to songesha around constantly in order to be happy.”
“Not an excuse.”
“No. Just you.”
Erin smiled at Terror.
“Thanks Terror.”
She stood and returned a sekunde later. She handed Terror the retrieved blade.
“Go ahead. I'll make sure no one finds out.”
Terror took the blade. He stared at it before throwing it into a trash can.
“No. I'm not evil. Just a monster.”
“And I'm a freak.”
Terror smiled up at her before standing. Erin smiled back.
“Wanna go to Damo's?” she asked. “My treat.”
“Your treat? Okay. I'm down for that.”
“No drinking. I can't pay for that much.”
Terror laughed a little.
“You got it. I don't need to anymore. I think I'm good.”
“Good. But it's still her loss.”
