anime au manga wewe think has the wrong target audience
Once in awhile you'll come across a series with a shounen au shoujo label where half au zaidi of the mashabiki are the opposite of the target gender, & after watching au kusoma it, you're thinking "are wewe freaking kidding me? How can this demographic be right?"
Gokusen: It's Jousei, aimed at older women, & it's damn funny, but I can totally see this being really maarufu with men. wewe can watch it back to back with Sukigake Kuromatei Gakuen (Cramortie High) & GTO. (The J-drama sucks, but women seem to like it).
Gensoumaden Saiyuki: The first anime I've ever known to smartly change it's demographic from Shounen to Jousei. Guys have told me that despite the amount of bare breasts in season 1, it's overtly homoerotic.
Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler: Somehow this is in a shounen manga. The mangaka has a history of uandishi yaoi & Syota/shotacon mangas & doesn't hide that fact very well. In fact, each story arc in the manga, wewe can tell she's not even trying to appeal to male mashabiki anymore. The 2ed live musical & 2ed season of the anime back this sentiment up.
Slayers: One of the best dubbed anime series I've ever seen & just as good in Japanese. This is the most girl-power shounen series ever; even having a bitchy flat-chested protagonist with pants who can blow up entire cities. wewe don't think of it much, but pants are pretty rare on women in anime.
Axis Powers Hetalia: This is seinen? It's one big gay joke. I don't know of any male fans.
Drug & Drop: Originally titled "Gouho Drug" au "Legal Drug," this CLAMP series used to be shoujo & switched to a seinen magazine, despite it not toning down the homoerotic undertones one ounce, & that kind of thing appeals zaidi to women.
Petshop of Horrors: Targeted at women in Japan, & wewe bet it's got female fans, but this is one men shouldn't pass up if wewe upendo a good Horror Mystery. It's the goriest shoujo title I've ever seen.
(Incidentally, if wewe know of any other incredibly slashy shounen series au shoujo series
