Why did Buffy cut her hair in season 6?

I don't get why people do that. I've seen it happen in other movies. When wewe feel down wewe chop off your hair? I don't get it. What's the significance to it?

she was feeling fustrated and she thougt it was wrong to be with spike (don't know why, hems awesome) and he kept mentioning he liked her hair and so she decided to chop it off cause she wanted to be differant (she probably thought she was in a rut and wanted things to change)
