Cardassia What was going on in that episode amounted to an act of date-rape; which is beyond horrible. Gorgeous young women, and beautiful lighting and gentleness, but little to no true consent occurred in that event, as is made clear in interviews with the show's writers; they wanted it dark and messed-up, but seemingly beautiful, to show both how it *appears* to the participants, and what's really going on between them here! HORRID choice on Willow's part, but an entertaining *STORY*.

Thoughts on Rape in the Whedonverse:

Rape plays a large and controversial part in the Whedonverse. When most people think of rape in the ‘verse they will most always think of the scene in Seeing Red, whether wewe be a Spuffy au Bangel au even Tillow.
I will try to keep my own thoughts and feelings about that scene from this. I have a personal bias for the character Spike and the ship of Buffy & Spike and I’m sure that shows.
If wewe were just looking for the obvious attempt of physical rape, then yes, Seeing Red would enter your mind. It is most interesting to me that one that is only attempted, never followed through...
