Or Joan of Arc, of course without burning her at the end, but it would sort of like a Mulan. I think they could make really strong character like Cleopatra, but there's a problem with her prince and happy ending. Maybe Disney shouldn't make Historical event, if they're going to mess it up like Pocahontas

ppv picked Disney shouldn't do another history based movie:
I'm not sure, you know, honestly I'm not keen on history (ashamed, but...), especially (well not especially, but I'm really not interested at all) on that time when Pocahontas lived. That's why I was rather indifferent to whether it is true about her in the movie or not. I just saw this story which Disney showed. But for example in Anastasia (I know it's not the Disney movie, but it doesn't mean Disney couldn't make the same mistake) I was so upset, because it's absolutely another story (besides about my native country), it's a tale with only real names, so it was rather difficult to me first not to think of this, and although I still love it, I don't think we need another play with the history...But of course just IMO.

queenbee13 picked Disney shouldn't do another history based movie:
I agree with ppv, to make a family movie that is supposed to be historically acurate hasn't worked out very much. It's just that most of the real life events are not going to have a dashing prince, a scandalous villian (from our point of view), and a happily ever after. So they must "bend the truth" a bit to make it more appealing. This causes the film to lose the essence that really happened in history. I'd be devasted if they recreated Cleopatra. I would probably love the movie, but the inevitable inacuracy would make me regret it being made.

In short- Historical events never truly are acknowledge in family animated movies.

I agree with the above posters. History is hard to adapt to Disney films, and it is probably better if they sticked to fairy tales and adapted them, imagination can be used more easily that way.

volleyblue13 picked Hatshepsut(first female pharoh of egypt):
OR Cleopatra :) but if they're gonna do something history-based, make sure it's accurate so they don't have to go back and RUIN the whole couple that they set up in the FIRST movie (*AHEM* Pocahontas!)

alafastanzio picked Cleopatra (ancient egyptian times):
If not Joan of Arc, then definately the story of Cleopatra. Much of our historical knowledge of her is largely embelished by romanticism anyway. As long as they killed her in the end I would be fine with it. I'm gonna have to change my answer because I know there's NO way Disney would burn Joan in the end...and i bet they'd try to incorporate some romantic story as well..reducing an amazing saint of a woman to just another love-struck giddy man-covetting girl like any other disney heroine.

TigerRanma picked Disney shouldn't do another history based movie:
I only know the story of Joan of Arc because I saw two movies of it. I can't imagine it any other way. Making a love story out of it? And having her not burned at the stake? Eh, I'm not sure.

It'd be really cool if Disney had a gorgeous Egyptian princess. But I dunno. I'm not really interested in history to begin with. And people seem to be complaining about how the stories are inaccurate so I guess Disney shouldn't even bother.
