I'm having a hard time picking between Cinderella and Snow White personally. Both have their flaws and their strengths in this countdown. However I think Cinderella is slightly less feminist than Snow White because I believe she does even less than Snow.
Cinderella doesn't do much, and half of the time she does something it's because of a push from her friends. I don't see anything wrong with that, she has been abused for many years after all. She does what she believes is best, quietly serving her stepmother to keep a roof over her head. I applaud her for her strength to even even continue living, and it pains me to critisize her as she is one of my favourites.
As for Snow White, I stand by what I said before. Snow White controls everyone but her step mother, everyone but Grimhilde bends to her whim. I might change my vote though, but for now I'm going to stand by Snow White.
Snow White is a more gentle 'feminist' because she can lead the animals to do works or being "bossy" over the dwarfs by telling them to wash hands or sleep. She does dream for her prince to come but she can live without him just fine.
Meanwhile, Cinderella is not feminist because after she can't be with her prince (being locked up in her room by her stepmother), she just cries and cries and doesn't try to find way to get out of her room. She also works hard like Snow White, but she just works because she is under her stepmother's power, unlike Snow White who still wants to clean the dwarfs' house though she doesn't have to.
Also Cinderella
Actually, I agree with SwanPride, and was going to pick Jasmine--- Jasmine is probably the biggest hypocrite of all the princesses, constantly being vocal about not being a prize, not being pushed around or manipulated, and the exact opposite occurs, a lot of it being Jasmine's own fault and hypocrisy. But the fact that Jasmine DOES vocally proclaim herself to be an individual with her own thoughts and ideals , fighting directly back against male oppressors--she tries, and fails, but she still tries-- is more than I can say for either Cinderella or Snow White, who have no males to fight back against. Cinderella is working back against her own oppression-- but it's not male oppression.
Cinderella and Snow White /do/ rely on male help--- but Cinderella's male help is with mice, which can still be a factor. There was no gender specifications with Snow White and the animals that help her, but Snow White was at least more proactive in finding a house, whereas Cinderella's magical fairy godmother appeared to help her.
So in the end, I think I'll pick Cinderella--- although she isn't a hypocrite like Jasmine, she does nothing proactively feminist. And Jasmine is certainly a more revolutionary and vocal in the feminist movement, and overall a far better role model-- it's not necessarily always about consequence, but the action.
I don't know, it's all very hard to pick. In the end though, Jasmine will help move the feminist movement forward more than Cinderella or Snow White ever will. The latter two set no examples in any sense. They're not breaking any stereotypes at any point.
