An animated look back in time at the great Targaryen civil war.

The Game of Thrones: Season 5 Blu-ray will include a neat new animated feature for fans looking to learn more about the history of Westeros. Written by Thrones writer Dave Hill and conceived and produced by Lindeman & Associates\' Adam Vadnais, The Dance of Dragons details the events of the game-changing Targaryen civil war.

IGN is debuting an exclusive first look at the 20-minute feature. In the below video, viewers can hear Pedro Pascal, who played Oberyn Martell in Season 4, narrate as Prince Aemond and his dragon Vhagar clash with his uncle Prince Daemon and his dragon Caraxes over the lake outside Harrenhal.

Game of Thrones: The Dance of Dragons First Look

The Dance of Dragons was a war of succession over who would inherit the Iron Throne after the death of Viserys I. George R.R. Martin wrote the origins of the event in his novella "The Princess and the Queen," which was released in the anthology Dangerous Women. A complete history of the event is planned for Fire and Blood, Martin\'s upcoming complete history of House Targaryen.

"When HBO and Adam Vadnais broached the idea of adapting The Dance of Dragons for the Blu-ray special features, I was thrilled. I loved the story as George had written it and felt honored to help bring an animated version to the fans," Hill told IGN in a statement. "Every year I try to keep the scripts worthy of the incredible work that I know to expect from Adam and his team. This year, more so than ever, they\'ve set the bar astronomically high with the Dance of Dragons featurette. Winter will eventually come, but not the day that Adam and his team fail to amaze me."

Beyond Pascal, The Dance of Dragons feature will include more actors who were killed off in previous seasons of Game of Thrones. Also contributing their voice work are Kerry Ingram, who played Shireen Barathon; Harry Lloyd, who played Viserys Targaryen; Mark Addy, who plays Robert Baratheon; Michelle Fairley, who played Catelyn Stark; and Jack Gleeson, who played Joffrey Baratheon.

Game of Thrones: Season 5 will be released on Blu-ray on March 15, 2016.
