have revealed that they were forced to cut a major battle sequence from the show.
The scene - intended to form part of the HBO hit\'s first season - was excised because of budget limitations.
"Thinking back to season one, there was supposed to be this big battle," showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss told the
"Tyrion Lannister follows The Mountain into combat - and we were really excited. We were going to have the camera at Peter Dinklage\'s eye level and have him follow this giant, The Mountain, into battle and just see everything."
Here\'s a first look at Taylor Lautner in Scream Queens
Tyrion is played by Peter Dinklage - who stands at 4 feet, 5 inches - while Gregor \'The Mountain\' Clegane was then played by Conan Stevens, who is over 7 feet tall.
"Frankly we just run out of money and we couldn\'t do it. So that was one of the big battles from the book that we hoped we could get on screen and we never managed to do it."
Game of Thrones spin-off: "There are a lot of different ways you could go with it," say writers
But the pair agreed that it\'s "probably better" that the sequence never made it to screen, since it might not have matched up to later, more accomplished sequences - from episodes like the recent \'Battle of the Bastards\'.
"In a way, I think it\'s probably better that we couldn\'t do it, because it never would have measured up to what we were able to do later."
will return to HBO and Sky Atlantic in 2017, though is expected to miss its usual April premiere date.
