Stupid question, but what did were Derek and Meredith doing in the elevator?

if wewe are talking about the lastest episode, they were so call going on their date. their tarehe was supposed to be sex in the on call room but bailey was in there. but because Meredith only had a dakika to spare and the room was occupied, Derek decided on something else, they went into the elevator where Meredith thought Derek wanted to have sex there but instead he gave her a fertility shot.

it was made to seem that they were trying to find somewhere to have sex to the audience but in actual fact it was just to have an injection to help her conceive
