We're not particularly adventurous with travelling, we've been to Portugal, France, and lots of places in the UK. But.. this year we're going to Florida!

@ITalkToSnakes-For the prom dresses-I just don't like white that much, at least to wear. The bridesmaid one is okay, mainly because it's not white and has a cool strap thingy. While I think it would be interesting to see what would happen if you went in jeans and a shirt, a la GD, I don't think that's the look you're looking for, so i'd go for the bridesmaid one.
Or possible one of these ones?

@GD-I dunno if your parents are the type that are obsessed with your grades, but you could find out a little about the history or some other educational thing about places you want to go and stress that there's lots of educational value in traveling.
Also, if you research good travel deals and show them, they'll be more likely (maybe) to say yes. Hmmm.....i'd recommend bribery, but your parents seem to have already broken one promise of taking you, so that probably wouldn't work.....you could try to stress to your dad the good things about travel? Look up facts or something. Show them something they'd love in a different country, so they might want to go themselves too....hmmm.
That sucks that they didn't make good on their promise :(
