Chapter 16
It was 5.58 am and Hugh was watching Lisa sleep. She looked so peaceful, so beautiful, he hated that he had to wake her up in two minutes. He started to play with her hair a little and smiled as she unconsciously moved closer to him. At exactly 6 am he sighed and pressed a soft kiss on her lips. ‘Wake up honey, it’s morning…’, he whispered as he kept playing with her hair. Lisa opened her eyes and immediately got a bright smile on her face as she saw Hugh’s intense blue eyes staring lovingly at her. ‘Hmmm…’, she alisema and kissed him. ‘Do we have to get up yet?’, she asked while trailing a finger over his chest. Hugh blushed instantly, ‘Unfortunately…, yes we have to get up now… We have to be back at the hotel at 7, so we don’t miss out on breakfast this time…’ ‘O… wewe sure? Because I could go without breakfast…’, Lisa pouted. Hugh smiled and kissed her again, ‘I wish we could stay…’
At 6.30 they were back in the mashua again, the sun was just rising and it was still a little foggy. Lisa enjoyed the morning in all its glory, not often did she have an opportunity to see the sun rise above the horizon. She was captured kwa its beauty and didn’t hear Hugh asking her a question. ‘Honey?’, Hugh asked again. ‘Huh? What? Sorry, what did wewe say?’, she alisema getting out of her trance. ‘I asked wewe if wewe also hear that noise… ‘, Hugh alisema and tried to concentrate on what he thought he just heard. ‘What noise?’, Lisa asked. ‘I don’t know… It kind of sounded like crying…’, Hugh said. Both Hugh and Lisa focused on the sounds around them. After a few sekunde Hugh heard it again, ‘There it is! Do wewe hear that?’ Lisa nodded, ‘Yes! Where does it come from?’ ‘My first guess would be a child…’, Hugh said. ‘Do wewe think someone got Lost au hurt?’, Lisa asked concerned. ‘I don’t know… Let’s try to follow the sound…’ Hugh alisema and started rowing…
‘O my god!’, Lisa almost screamed as she quickly jumped out of the mashua and swam to the side of the Lake. There hidden in the bushes in a small picnic basket lay a crying baby. Hugh had quickly rowed to the side of the Lake and made his way to Lisa who had picked the baby up and tried to sooth it. ‘O god, she is so cold Hugh! She doesn’t have any clothes on! There’s just a small blanket in the basket!’, Lisa panicked. ‘Come here’, Hugh alisema and reached for the baby. He wrapped the baby girl in the blanket, then took his coat, sweater and undershirt off. He handed his sweater to Lisa, who was shivering from swimming in the cold water, and wrapped the baby securely in his undershirt which was warm as it had absorbed Hugh’s body heat. He put his kanzu, koti on again and gave the baby to Lisa. ‘Step in the boat, we need to get her to the hospital!’, Hugh alisema and pulled Lisa in the mashua with him.
Lisa was cuddling and soothing the baby as Hugh rowed to the hotel as fast as he could. They both didn’t speak as they needed to focus their attention. 4,5 dakika later they were at the hotel again as Hugh might have broken the world record in rowing. He helped Lisa out of the mashua and lifted her into his arms as he thought that would be the quickest way to get her and the baby to the reception. He put Lisa down as soon as they stood in front of the reception. ‘I need wewe to call the nearest hospital and tell them we found an abandoned baby and we’re coming over as soon as possible, I need baby clothes, blankets and something to carry her in, I need a baby bottle with warm formula, I need clothes and 2 towels for Lisa and your nearest shower. O, and a cab! I don’t care how much it costs, but do it in 5 minutes!’, Hugh said. The receptionists looked at each other for one sekunde and then quickly got to work. 'I don't need to take a shower, we can go to the hospital know!', Lisa said. 'No, wewe have to take a kuoga Leese, I'm not letting wewe get pneumonia!', Hugh alisema firmly. Lisa nodded, handed the baby to Hugh, although she didn’t want to leave her and quickly got a shower…
When Lisa walked into the reception 5 dakika later she saw Hugh sitting with the baby in his arms. She was dressed and hungrily sucking on the bottle with formula. David and Robert sat on both sides of Hugh. ‘So how exactly did this happen?’, David asked. ‘Hey…’, Lisa said. ‘Hey, wewe warm again?’, Hugh asked ignoring David. ‘Yes, how is she?’, Lisa asked. ‘Warming up, but the hospital is called and I thought we should leave right away.’, Hugh said. ‘Yes, we should.’, Lisa said. Hugh carefully handed the baby to Lisa who immediately cuddled her and continued feeding her. ‘Come on…’, Hugh alisema and walked to the cab he ordered. ‘Wait! When will wewe be back?’, David said. ‘I don’t know, it might take a while…’, Hugh replied. Lisa and Hugh both got into the backseat of the cab. Hugh wrapped his arms around Lisa who was holding the baby and looking up at him with tears in her eyes, ‘She’s going to be okay, right?’
