Ash Ketchum had just finished a battle with Candice.

Candice: So, Ash. It was a pleasure battling you.

For some reason Paul was watching Ash battle to analyze his work.

Dawn sees Paul stand up and leave the gym.

Sinnoh League: Ash VS. Paul
"Flare Blitz!" yelled Ash. Infernape created a great spark of moto and rammed it into Paul's Torterra. Torterra dragged its feet to a halt from the scorching impact and fell to the stadium ground. The crowd all waited as the smoke cleared and the referee rose his flag to Ash's side.
"Infernape is the winner. Ash of Pallet Town wins!" he shouted.
The whole crowd cheered. Ash jumped for joy and his Pokemon joined in. But on the other side of the excitement, there was Paul. He stood there, and all he could think of right then was the he Lost to Ash, somebody not as important...

"Dawn!!! It's lights out!" My mom calls out to me. "I gotta go. It's lights out for me." I tell May and Drew on ViaVideoChat. "Yeah, I understand." Dawn: What are wewe talking about?

Ash: *yelling* wewe snuck out of the hotel just to hang out with him!

Paul: Hmph. I did no such thing.

They walked back near the great Sycamore.

Dawn: I'm sorry Ash had to be so.... childish.
