It was called ‘Colony’ Renewed: USA Network’s Josh Holloway Drama Coming Back for Season 2 | Variety
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
“Colony” has been renewed for a second season at USA Network,
The renewal news comes after just three episodes have aired and on the day of the fourth episode of the 10-episode first season, which is on tonight at 10 p.m.
Starring “Lost” favorite Josh Holloway and Sarah Wayne Callies (The Walking Dead,” “Prison Break”), “Colony” centers on one family’s struggle to survive and bring liberty back to the people of an occupied Los Angeles.
The drama from Legendary Television and Universal Cable Productions comes from mega-showrunner Carlton Cuse (“Lost,” “The Strain,” “Bates Motel”) and Ryan Condal.
“Carlton and Ryan have successfully delivered a story that tests the strengths and weaknesses of a society in duress, and the bonds of a family divided,” said Chris McCumber, president of USA Network. “‘Colony’s’ performance across all platforms has been impressive, and we can’t wait to see where the story takes us.”
“Colony,” like “Mr. Robot” last summer, is bringing a younger audience to USA. While the show has averaged a modest total-viewer count (1.3 million viewers in same-day and 2.7 million in live+3), it has seen its demo ratings grow with each week. In each of its first three weeks, it has been among the top five scripted series on cable in both adults 18-49 and 25-54.
Condal — who was one of Variety’s 10 Scribes to Watch last year — made his television debut with “Colony.” He previously broke into the biz by co-writing the screenplay for Dwayne Johnson’s “Hercules.” Up next, he will re-team with Cuse for a big screen project, “Rampage,” which will will reunite him with Johnson.
