Lady Gaga Will Sing The National Anthem At Super Bowl 50

Lady Gaga is about to take the football field.

Well… kind of. The NFL announced Tuesday that Gaga will sing the national anthem at this Sunday’s Super Bowl in Santa Clara, Calif., before the Carolina Panthers face the Denver Broncos. Gaga now joins the ranks of Idina Menzel, Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey and more legendary vocalists who’ve had the same honor in years’ past.

News of Gaga’s patriotic performance comes just hours after the announcement that she’ll deliver a tribute to David Bowie at the Grammy Awards on Feb. 15. All in all, it’s yet another example of Gaga’s apparent mission to take over America’s televisions. The multi-hyphenate entertainer is fresh off a Golden Globe win for “American Horror Story: Hotel,” AND she’s nominated for an Oscar for her song with Diane Warren, “Til It Happens to You.” Mother Monster is truly inescapable.

Even for non-football fans, Super Bowl 50 is truly shaping up to be an unmissable event. Besides Gaga’s pre-kickoff performance and a predictably zany roster of commercials (like Drake’s and Lil Wayne’s), Coldplay and Beyoncé have been booked for the halftime show.

The only question is: Will Gaga go full-on Patriot Icon in that stars-and-stripes getup from her “Telephone” video? And will Beyoncé don hers as well? We can dream…

Super Bowl 50 airs at 6:30 ET on CBS on Sunday, Feb. 7.
