FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LA-LA LAND RECORDS TO RELEASE SOUNDTRACK FOR LEVERAGE The Series Boasts a Jazz and Pop-Flavored Score by Emmy® Award-Winner Joseph LoDuca (January 5, 2010 Burbank, CA) – La-La Land Records will be releasing the soundtrack for the TNT TV series Leverage. Executive Producer Dean Devlin turned to his composer for the Librarian films and the miniseries The Triangle, Emmy® Award-Winning composer Joseph LoDuca (The Legend of the Seeker, Xena: Warrior Princess) to write the music for the series, which will be available in-stores and via www.lalalandrecords.com on January 19, 2010. The music on the soundtrack mirrors the fun nature of the show, blending remix jazz grooves with pop production tricks. As LoDuca sums it up, “There is nothing long-winded or pretentious about the music on this album. It is all about grown-up fun.” Executive Producer Dean Devlin agrees. “For his work on the Leverage series Joe’s composition truly embodies and reflects what makes this show so enjoyable; it’s energetic, it’s hip, but mostly it’s fun.” TNT set Tuesday nights on fire with the Leverage, a thrilling, fast-paced drama series starring Oscar® winner Timothy Hutton. This summer, the gang is back with more elaborate scams designed to exact revenge against those who use power and wealth to victimize people. Hutton stars as Nate Ford, a former insurance investigator determined to bring down the kind of corrupt bigwigs whose neglect led to the death of his son. His highly skilled team includes Sophie Devereaux (Gina Bellman – Coupling), a grifter who uses her acting skills to corner her marks; Eliot Spencer (Christian Kane – TNT’s Into the West), a “retrieval specialist” with bone-crunching fighting skills; Alec Hardison (Aldis Hodge – Friday Night Lights), a gadget and technology wizard who keeps the team connected and informed; and Parker (Beth Riesgraf – Alvin and the Chipmunks), a slightly off-center thief adept at repelling off buildings or squeezing into tight places. Together, the team puts their energy, quick minds and keen intellects toward securing justice for society’s underdogs. Each episode has its own musical set up. For the episode Twelve Step Job, LoDuca wrote a drunken Irish rage/electric folk tune. Andy Lange, the assistant dub mixer, wrote “Not Sure Yet”, a recurring them that appears as a backdrop to the on-again/off-again relationship sub-plot between Nate and Sophie. The show is a romp, following the modern day ‘Robin Hoods’ on their adventures scamming major corporations, and the music follows suit. “When the rhythm section is pumping, the pace of the scam and the comic banter feel like a breezy scat song,” LoDuca describes. “Then we need to let go of the beat to get inside the heads and hearts of the characters.” Joseph LoDuca’s credits include 2 Primetime Emmy® Awards, eleven Primetime Emmy® Nominations and “Most Performed Underscore” recognitions from ASCAP for four consecutive years. He was nominated again in 2007 for Outstanding Music for Movie or Mini-Series for Devlin's The Librarian. He received a César Nomination for Meilleure Musique Écrite Pour Un Film (Best Music) for Brotherhood of the Wolf. Additional credits include over twenty feature film scores and thirteen regional Emmys®. He has composed music for the highest-rated syndicated series: Xena: Warrior Princess, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, the critically acclaimed American Gothic and The Triangle. He is currently scoring The Legend of the Seeker and the upcoming Spartacus television series. For more information, visit www.loducamusic.com.
