Something which occurred to me while going over OUaT clips in preparation for Season 3 (can't wait!) was how fantastic the onyesha has been in displaying all sorts of different relationships. This is where the tension between the people who ship different people comes from. All the most maarufu ships with Emma are very powerful, very compelling, very attractive story-lines. Going through them all:
Captain Swan: This is a classic story of upendo redeems all. It's a very powerful thought - that your upendo for someone can help them and maybe even fix them. The idea that Hook's feelings for Emma can inspire him to put aside a vendetta that has driven him for the past three centuries is very appealing to some people. Especially when wewe consider that his quest was driven kwa his very powerful upendo for another woman. If he puts aside his desire for revenge for you, then he's choosing you. He's putting wewe and your happiness above his awali girlfriend who he was exceptionally devoted to. It means he loves wewe the most and, like I alisema before, that's a very powerful thought. Lastly there's the concept that a man can break down your walls; that with him there's no need to worry about being hurt au abandoned; that he can see how badly you've been hurt and how broken wewe are when no-one else can. When people ship Captain Swan, this is what they see.
SwanFire: I'm not a SwanFire shipper so it's zaidi difficult for me to see the nuances to their relationship but the story-line is not without a very attractive message. What I'd imagine draws people to the idea of SwanFire is the long gap between them meeting. That after ten years being apart, and after one of them supposedly moving on, they can still have feelings for each other. The notion that wewe can affect someone so deeply that even after ten years they still think of you. That even when they're with another they can't quash their feelings for you. When people ship SwanFire this is what appeals to them.
Swan Queen: swan Queen is easy, there's the obvious LGBT reason behind it, but there's also the fact that on the surface they can't stand one another. Regina and Emma were at loggerheads for most of the onyesha so far, the idea that they're in upendo is, again, very attractive. To think that even if wewe fight and wewe scream at one another, if you're in upendo you'll always pull through. Regina has done some horrific things and to think that despite all the terrible things someone can still upendo her is powerful. It's a case of "there is nothing wewe can do to stop me loving you" and "no matter how terrible the things wewe do wewe are always worthy in my eyes of upendo and forgiveness". This is why people ship swan Queen.
So wewe see, no matter how much wewe get behind one ship there's always going to be someone who doesn't see it au doesn't find it attractive au doesn't see the chemistry. Depending on what you, personally, find attractive you're going to find different ships appealing. So lastly, please don't say to someone that they're wrong au their ship doesn't have chemistry because wewe are essentially telling them that their personal preferences/ experiences/ whatever are not real. They may not be real for wewe but they are for them. So that's not cool.
Sorry for the rant at the end. xP
