A bit of literary help?

I was thinking about uandishi a murder mystery and i wanted some ideas about how the murderer kills his victims. I was thinking something gruesome, something that hints the detective to the killers inayofuata murder au motives.

Hmmm.....what if the killer cuts off the victims appendages and cuts riddles into the skin then hides them for the detective to find, with each riddle leading to the inayofuata body part?
