The independent variable is the hardness of the water, because it doesn't change and the results of the experiment will correlate to it.

The dependent variable is the amount of lather produced from the soap, because the amount produced depends on the hardness of the water.

The data produced in the reaction is continuous because wewe can collect definite values from the experiment.
