A Brother & Sister Reunite – Resurrection – Season 2 Episode 6 – “Afflictions”
Resurrection fans have been caught up in the mystery of this season. We have gotten some big answers about the returned. We now know they can simply “wish” themselves away by just “letting go”. Who knew the lyrics from a Disney song would have such relevance here. So, this leaves us with the question, what about the ones who are sick and don’t want to let go?  I mean the returned were not getting sick before, so why now?
We begin this week by seeing the government woman that Bellamy is now working for having a flashback of herself as a child sitting in an airline seat after a plane crash.  Could this mean that she is also a returned?  I swear this gets crazier by the minute. Bellamy contacts her in the midst of this flashback and we see that he has gotten worse as he passes out while on the phone.
Maggie is desperate for answers on where her mother went. She works answers out of Elaine on what she saw and Maggie realizes this all leads back to her grandmother, which is Maggie’s next stop. Maggie explains what has happened to Lucy and Henry, when Margaret shows up. Margaret denies any involvement, but Lucy seems to question Margaret’s truthfulness, as I am sure Maggie does too.
Bellamy wakes up and discovers he is in a government facility.  This provides us with answers to the sickness.  It seems the illness is contagious among the returned once they become symptomatic. The doctor explains that as the disease progresses, symptoms get worse and then you disappear.  I am cautious to believe everything he says for some reason.  Bellamy may be as well as he wants to see the woman he works for before he will accept any more medical help.
I guess Henry is serious about reopening the factory.  He has brought Jacob to the factory to take a look around as Henry begins his plans for renovating the factory. A man, Brian, shows up at the factory and he is interested in the factory, but Henry explains it is not for sale. Brian is intrigued and offers to be an investor.
The government woman shows up to talk to Bellamy.  They believe that a returned one may have brought the virus back with them and confirms that if you reach the final stages then you disappear. She tells him to take the medication, which he does. She notices his birthmark and remembers a woman, who we know to be Bellamy’s mother, during her interrogation, asking about her baby’s whereabouts. I have been waiting on more insight into this ever since the season one finale.
At the diner Margaret runs into Elaine and we get a classic case of, “I don’t know what you think you saw, but you didn’t.”  Maggie goes to see her dad and she breaks the bad news to him, explaining everything that Elaine saw and how Margaret has denied being there. Fred goes to get Maggie some tea and she seems to be going through some type of dizzy spell or something.
Back at the hospital, Bellamy decides it is time to leave and breaks out of the hospital. As he makes his way out of the hospital he sees an office with information about the returned.  The office belongs to Angela Forrester.  It seems we may finally have a name for the mystery government woman.  Bellamy also finds a note on her desk that suggests Bellamy has returned twice!  Bellamy seems shocked by this newfound information.
Mrs. Forrester returns to the office and is surprised to be confronted by Bellamy, who wants to know when she was going to share the information she has on him with him. Mrs. Forrester gives him a timeline of his life and also reveals who his parents are. She also lands the unfortunate blow to him that his family was infected with the virus and disappeared three days ago, except for his sister. He demands to see her.
Back in Arcadia Henry is sharing the possible investor with Lucy and Margaret, who both seem to have doubts about it. I am sure there is a bigger story there and I totally think it may lead to something shady.
Elaine’s bother also seems to have started up a group of residents who are afraid of the returned and of being victimized by them.  I don’t foresee this going anywhere good, at all.
Bellamy meets his sister and tells her that he will watch over here and as soon as it is safe enough he will bring her back to Arcadia, though he does not tell her that he is her brother.  Bellamy learns that his name was Robert. This is such an emotional moment, especially when you realize they only have each other now. I sure hope they are able to be together as a family again soon and something doesn’t happen to her or him.
Bellamy is packing up to leave the hospital but stashes a cell phone within the room. Angela provides Bellamy with enough medication to keep him symptom free for ten days. He has to inject himself every twelve hours.
Bellamy arrives at Maggie’s door and he explains that they have given him some medication that suppresses the virus and the symptoms. He gives her the medication so she can use it and be in charge of distributing it, and then he leaves.  Um…what about him? How is he going to go back and get his sister if he is dead? Back at his hotel room he is able to detect his cell phone from his computer.  Well, at least he now knows where he was and where his sister is.
Henry calls Brian and sets up a meeting.  It seems Brian has a returned relative as well, his grandfather, and just as we suspected something shady seems to be going on. This man may have it out for the Langstons.
Back in Bellamy’s hotel room, an alarm goes off and we see that he has a small vile of the medication and he injects himself.  I guess maybe he did think about himself, but how did he get the extra medication and how much does he have?  Will it be enough?  I want to know what his plan is and what he is going to do next.  I guess we will have to wait and tune in next week to find out!
