Sorry for the delay of chapter 24- my computer broke *arrrg!* so I had to re-write the whole chapter- but I hope wewe enjoy.

Running, breathing, living, hunting, fighting and Jake. These were the only five words running through my head right now. We hadn’t been running long and I was still at the front of the mduara, duara with Jake. As we ran I could almost smell the danger approaching us. I knew that the others were trying not to onyesha their anxiety around me but I knew that these newborns weren’t as new any zaidi and were becoming better fighters kwa the day.
“Stop,” I heard Alice call from behind me, “The newborns are near, Edward can wewe hear them?” she wailed as the mduara, duara closed back around me simultaneously.
“Let’s go, the sooner we get them the better!” I called, impatient of some action of my own. The rest of them seemed to agree and before another sekunde was up we were running again. We stopped abruptly when we reached a large field, opposite us there was the same pack of bloodthirsty Wanyonya damu I had seen the awali week but there were a few subtle changes and one massive one. Firstly their once burgundy eyes had turned into a vivid crimson that sent a shiver down my spine. Secondly they were not in a relaxed stance this time, but crouched in a low aggressive crouch, growls erupting from their chest. Usually this would have deeply unsettled me but instead I breathed a deep sigh of relief. The size of their pack had shrunk, there were only 15 of them. I know it is only one less but it is better than one more.
We launched into action; there is no time for diplomatic conversation with newborns. I saw Carlisle’s regret mirror my own, although I wanted to fight today, neither of us liked violence. Emmet on the other hand was a complete opposite; his brute strength meant that no longer than twelve sekunde after we had charged he was already throwing the remains of one newborn on a purple fire. I didn’t want to miss anything in my first fight and unless I hurried up it looked as if I would.
I spotted a manic newborn trying to escape from the field and I bounded after him, trying to be quiet. As son as I approached him he whipped around with a snarl. I remembered what Emmet had told me and we kind of danced around in a circle, taking a snap at each other every so often. I saw my window of opportunity as the newborn got briefly distracted kwa the screeching of one of his friends. I quickly raced behind him and leaped onto his back, grapping my head between my hands. I saw my russet brown mbwa mwitu come up behind me and grab the newborns arm between his teeth, he pulled his head back and the arm totally detached. I knew what I had to do, trying to block out the wailing, I twisting his head around in one fluid motion. The screaming stopped and Jake trotted away with a wink to go and change back to his human form. I dropped the head aware of the dazed expression on my face. As I looked around I noticed there were any other newborns left, just familiar faces picking up the remains.
“Well done Nessie, wewe were amazing. wewe have your parents skill, speaking of which your mum will be back soon she and Jasper went to the woods to check for strays.” Esme alisema softly wrapping her arms around me. I nodded absent mindedly when she released me; I wandered over to Jake who was laughing with dad and Seth.
“Hey,” I whispered taking his out stretched hand.
“You did great out there Ness.”
“Thanks Jake, it was weird. I wanted to fight so much- to prove myself- but when I saw all of these innocent people brought to this life unfairly, it was horrible,” I shudder at the memory.
“Renesmee, wewe never ever have to prove you’re self to us. Don’t worry those Wanyonya damu were out of control what wewe did was right.” Dad alisema hugging me fiercely.
“Nessie, please don’t tell me wewe didn’t enjoy that, wewe are so like Carlisle sometimes!” Emmet boomed from the other side of the field with Rosalie and Alice. I swallowed their comfort and put a-not-quite-genuine smile on my face. I blushed- I had inherited that from mum, so dad told me- and stuck my tongue out. The joking mood evaporated as quickly as it had set.
“Carlisle,” Alice said, her voice strained and lips tight, “they’re coming, the Volturi are coming here…now.”
I felt the blood drain from my face. I knew there was nothing to worry about, the Volturi were coming as a mere precaution, nothing to worry about. I was still afraid. Jake surprised me kwa not taking me to the back but putting me in the sekunde row before joining the front row along with Carlisle, Emmet, Alice, Dad and Sam. I was behind the beat fighters, they could protect me the best, why did everyone think I needed protecting I thought as the others closed in on me.
I felt a chill in the air and a shiver ran down my spine. I heard Esme suck in her breath. I knew that the Volturi must be here and I craned my neck to get a good look. There standing in the low mist, were six cloaked figures. I could just about make out who they were, Aro, Caius, Marcus, Jane, Alec and Demetri.
“So we meet again my good friends, but why so many of you?” Aro crooned, his voice making my stomach churn as his greedy eyes swept the crowd-searching.
“Aro, wewe know fully well why we are here and we would appreciate it if wewe left now, we don’t want to make a scene.” Carlisle murmured his inner calm shaken.
Aro’s answer was quick and sharp, “Why so soon, we have just been reunited. Surely there is lots to catch up on, how are young Nessie and Alice?”
“You won’t touch them,” Dad snarled, his face contorting in anger.
I noticed Jane slip Alec a sly grin before speaking, “Oh I wouldn’t count on that; Bella’s not here to shield any of wewe now, is she?” the child like voice made my stomach churn, but before I could say anything I heard Jacobs yell of pain I had to help him, to make his pain stop. It was unbearable. I pushed my self forwards, starting to sprint to were Jake laid, his body flipping over under Jane’s curse. I felt Emmet grab hold of me as tears ran down my cheeks and screams came out of my own lips. I struggled desperately screaming and kicking as Carlisle began to walk over to Jake, Jane wasn’t causing Jake pain anymore but she could start at any second.
Suddenly everything went black. I couldn’t see anything, I couldn’t hear anything, I couldn’t feel anything, I couldn’t smell anything and I couldn’t taste anything. Alec had cut of my senses and probably everyone else’s, except my Jake. I don’t know how long I stood there for, it felt like days but realistically it could have only been seconds. My senses came back as quickly as they had disappeared. I looked over and saw mum standing at the edge f the clearing with Jasper, her face wrinkled in concentration. I looked over to where Jakes body should lay but instead it was slumped and broken against a tree. Carlisle was already over kwa his side, whispering frantic instructions to dad. Emmet released me, dropping his hands to his side.
I raced over; my feet felt as I they were wading through thick mud, why wouldn’t they songesha fast enough? My frame shook as I knelt down kwa his limp body, bloody and broken.
“Carlisle wewe need to tell me what is wrong with him,” I demanded,
Carlisle looked up, his eyes grave, “Nessie, Jake has remarkable recovery skills but his moyo rate is uneven and it wont work as well, I am sure he will pull through but be prepared for the worst.” He didn’t pat my arm au squeeze my hand, but he pulled me into his arms and let me cry it out whilst dad bandaged up his head, getting ready to songesha him back to the house. I wanted to lay down and die myself, the prospect of loosing Jake forever was too much to bear. I knew what I had to do. When Carlisle let go of me I took a deep breath and began to speak,
“Jake, its gonna be… a-alright. Your gonna be o-o-okay, but I n-need wewe to keep breathing o-okay?” I stammered between sobs. Jake didn’t open his eyes but reached out his palm and I put mine in his, he was going to be fine- for now.
It was two hours later when I was sitting in Carlisle’s medical room clutching Jakes hand. The Volturi left as soon as mum and Jasper arrived, everyone was too concerned for Jake to peruse them. I had not gotten my vengeance but I would- some day. Jake was going to live and that was all I cared about but there was on other thing eating at my mind. I had been thinking about it since last week but I couldn’t tell anyone yet, not even Jake. I am not sure that my suspicions are correct but I need a final conclusion because if they are then we need to work through this together. To ease my suspicion I must do this so with one last fleeting glance I let go of Jakes hand and walk out of the room. I know that he will still be here when I get back and that is the only thing that is letting me go. I hurry into the garage, making sure no one sees me and rush over to Jasper’s motorcycle. I kick the ignition and race onto the muddy track, to my destination, Forks.
