This is how \'The Walking Dead\' should end, says creator Robert Kirkman

CLEVELAND, Ohio – "The Walking Dead" creator Robert Kirkman guested on comedian Marc Maron\'s amazingly awesome WTF Podcast this week.

Kirkman was ever so cautious not to reveal spoilers for the upcoming seasons of "The Walking Dead" and its spinoff "Fear the Walking Dead." However, he did offer insight into what inspired "The Walking Dead" comics.

Kirkman wasn\'t a fan of how traditional zombie movies failed to reveal how society rebuilt itself after the zombie apocalypse ended.

"At the end of every movie they were like, \'Well the world is covered in zombies and we\'re out of time, so see you later folks.\' I was like how do you continue to find food and shelter and protect your loved ones for years and years after civilization [ends]?" Kirkman told Maron. "I was like how does this affect you- the weak people becoming strong, the strong becoming weak and sane people becoming insane?"

Kirkman\'s goal is for "The Walking Dead" was to answer those questions.

] story from beginning to end over many, many years," said Kirkman. "I think it\'s a very hopeful story about humanity overcoming this insurmountable apocalyptic situation. It\'s just going to take them a long time to do it."

Of course, Kirkman has the power to make this happen. He is in full control of "The Walking Dead" comic, which doesn\'t seem close to ending, and is an executive producer on AMC\'s hit series.
