This review is dedicated to Naya Rivera, the voice actress for Catwoman in this film. This review is also dedicated to Mario Puzo, the writer of The Godfather.
Batman: The Long Halloween is a two-part film from 2021. It is an adaptation of the comic storyline of the same name. The Long Halloween was one of my inayopendelewa storylines from the comics, so I've been looking mbele to the film adaptation of it.
The Plot
The plot of The Long Halloween revolves around Batman, Harvey Dent and Jim Gordon attempting to stop Holiday. Holiday is a mysterious figure who has been getting rid of people in Carmine Falcone's mob. Carmine Falcone is Gotham's most powerful mob boss. Harvey Dent attempts to bring down the various threats that Gotham is facing, but things get harder for him when people start thinking that he's Holiday. Batman is helped out in his mission kwa Catwoman. Catwoman, who knows Batman's identity and is in a relationship with him, has her own reasons for joining the mission. In order to stop Holiday, Carmine Falcone attempts to get some help from the inmates of Arkham Asylum.
The animated adaptation of The Long Halloween has the sharp, clever uandishi of the comics. However, it's not exactly the same as the comics, which I'm thankful for. After all, if it was 100% like the comics, it wouldn't have an identity of it's own. The film adds some distinct changes that give the characters zaidi backstory and development. The uandishi for Harvey Dent is greatly handled. Instead of being the villain that he usually is, Harvey could almost be seen as an anti-hero in this story. As for Batman, his storyline includes a lot of development, lessons and heart.
The Characters
Batman is a character who has been written a countless amount of ways. While this version of Batman is serious and dark, he does display a lot of moyo and morals. The Long Halloween story gives Batman one of the most intriguing cases of his detective career, so seeing Batman try to put the pieces together is an exciting sight to behold. In this film, he and Catwoman aren't enemies. While Catwoman has somewhat of a mischievous side, she plays a very important role in helping Batman save the day. Naya Rivera did a great job at giving Catwoman a lot of personality.
Harvey Dent, better known as Two-Face, really gets to shine in this film. The Long Halloween was my inayopendelewa Two-Face storyline from the comics. Thankfully, the film did a very good job at making Harvey a very complex, sympathetic and fascinating character. Josh Duhamel gives a very strong, distinct performance as Harvey.
Carmine Falcone is a character that is heavily based off of Marlon Brando's character from The Godfather, Vito Corleone. The Long Halloween borrows so many elements from The Godfather that the story should of credited Godfather writer Mario Puzo for inspiration. Regardless of the fact that The Long Halloween copied The Godfather in a lot of ways, Carmine is a very intriguing antagonist.
Calendar Man is an underrated Batman villain that received a lot of attention after appearing in The Long Halloween storyline. In this film, he's voiced kwa the talented David Dastmalchian, the same actor who played Polka-Dot Man in The Suicide Squad.
As for Batman's other enemies, they get their chance to shine. Several other villains appear, including Joker, Penguin, Scarecrow, Mad Hatter, Poison Ivy and Solomon Grundy. They all get their fun moments.
ujumla, jumla
The Long Halloween was one of the better Batman stories in the comics. Thankfully, the animated version lives up to the comics. It's an intriguing mystery that's full of adventure and surprises. Both the Heroes and villains get to shine in this tale.
