“AHHHHH!”
“Girls, its fine, its just a power cut.” Shadow said. Reaching frantically inside one of her utility ukanda pouches she bought out a small flashlight and clicked it on.
“Oh yah”, Fin said, obviously creeped out, “Than what was with the scream? wewe know how creepy that was?”
All the girls stayed silent, too shocked to say another word. One of Aisling’s rats squeaked that Aisling had to coax it down. Eclipse lay still and mwepesi, teleka looked around, worried.
“What do we do?” mwepesi, teleka asked.
“I dunno” Shadow replied. She checked her iPhone. Strangely, even her iPhone wasn’t working. Something was definitely up.
Fin bit one of her fingernails. Her eyes were wide like Bambi eyes, searching for any signs of evidence.
Shadow closed her eyes and tried to listen. She could vaguely hear voices. It looked like it came from the back of Swifts room. Unusually scared, she bent her head and hugged herself. Realizing her fear she shook her head and stood up.
“We need to do something”, Shadow alisema in a rushed whisper, “Something is going on and I even heard a few voices. We got company-and not even a good one. I say we should stand ready, get ready for any attack-we don’t want anyone hurt here, do we?”
Shadow than looked at Swift. She clicked her fingers. “Swift? Are wewe listening?”
mwepesi, teleka was seated, eyes closed, her hands moving in a unconscious manner.
“Uh!”, Fin exclaimed,” We Lost mwepesi, teleka too! Couldn’t it get any worse!”
“SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!” Shadow, Aisling, and Eclipse said. They didn’t want to be heard. Fin clapped her own mouth.
“This, this is seriously...sick!” Eclipse spat. She looked annoyed. So mad she didn’t even realize that her aluminum claws retracted. She looked at her hands. Surprised with the reflex, she calmed down. She didn’t want to explode, especially in this kind of mess.
Aisling put a hand on her old Marafiki shoulder. “Its going to be fine. Right? I mean, we got each other.” She said, trying her best to lighten the mood. It wasn’t working.
Shadow paced the room, walking up and down. Another scream bellowed out. The girls poised quickly for any attack. They were scared stiff.
“This is too much.” Aisling cried out silently. She hugged her rats tightly to her chest.
“I know. It is. I can’t even radio a signal. My earpiece is jammed.” Shadow said.
“Don’t worry, it’ll be alright.”
The girls jumped, startled. They looked around the room and realized it was Swift.
They all sighed in relief.
“So wewe came back from your daydream huh mate?”, Shadow laughed softly, “You scared us all, blacking out like that.”
“I wasn’t blacked out! I was talking to Cecil”, mwepesi, teleka replied angrily.
“Really?”, Shadow smirked, folding her arms across her chest.
“And”, mwepesi, teleka added, ignoring Shadow “I got a plan.”
