"Kids, we have breakfast!" Humphrey called from outside the cave before walking in. Kate came after him with the fresh rabbit carcass in her mouth. Scarlett blood dripped from the rabbit's neck wound as she set it down before the pups. She told me as they gorged into the lagomorph, "Eat up, kids. We have a long way to go."
"What about wewe and Dad?" Asked Claudette and she added, "You two need to eat as well."
Humphrey responded to his daughter, "We're fine, Claudette. Your mom and I will handle ourselves later. It's wewe guys who need your strength."
Claudette looked away from her father and turned to her mother. Kate nodded in agreement. The female Alpha pup went back to eating, her eyes slowly moving upward to watch Kate and Humphrey songesha outside the cave and sit in front of the entrance with their backs facing the pups.

"This is not the krisimasi that I imagined our pups would be witnessing for the first time." Kate spoke softly. "Last night was nice, of course but it would've been even better back at home. Even if Dad, Lilly, Garth and Tony were not there to celebrate with us."
Humphrey sighed and felt Kate's head rest under his chin. "We had no choice, hon. At that time, we were outnumbered and it was important to get the kids out of danger."
"Yeah, I guess." Kate pulled her head back and looked into the cave, watching Runt finishing his portion of rabbit meat. She said, "Runt's been pretty quiet since he woke up. Normally, he would talk up a storm. I think he's thinking the same thoughts we're having right now."
"I have no doubt about that. We will find a new way home, Kate. We have to."
"Yes, we will. We've done it before and we can do it again. There's always a way."

The pups had finished their meal and one after the other, they walked outside to their parents. "All done, Mom." alisema Stinky, looking mildly proud of himself.

"I did. Don't worry, Eve. Remember, she is the finest Alpha I've trained." Winston comforted Eve as they walked into their pango to rest.
Eve then told Winston, "She is also the finest Alpha I've ever trained."
