Okay so I finally had the time to look up the part in the finale episode where Haley comes to see Lucas at the River court, where Peyton had left him the Comet drawing. Well, some people see it as another push in the Leyton direction, but I see it as a something much different. A beautiful expression of friendship, and honesty, and her way of helping Lucas to let go. Let go of Peyton. If wewe want to view it yourself here is the link:

It starts off as just sort of humorous. Haley picking fun at Peyton for how "Peyton like" her drawing is. Which kwa the way I find remarkably true. Does anyone else feel that kwa drawing over the others artwork, that they did together, Peyton is only thinking of herself, and her feelings for Lucas? I do. That's why I think this scene is so moving. It's looking beyond her drawing, that monumental piece of selfish artwork, and focusing on the bigger picture!
So, back to the Laley convo. Lucas tells her that Lindsey stopped kwa to give him his book, and that it's done, aside from a dakika dedication that can be emailed. He then tells her that he went to see Brooke, and Haley retorts kwa sighing "oh the trifecta" And with that Lucas tells her that he wants to get away for a while. Haley recognizing that Lucas is truly in need of some guidance takes a stab at it. This is what she says: "Lucas please stop running, wewe gotta let go of this dark weight that your holding on to." Then he tells her that Nathan had alisema something like that to him that morning, his words were : "the darkness doesn't have any answers." Haley tells him that Nathan is right...followed kwa "you know that romantic notion that all the garbage and pain is actually the healing and beautiful and sort of poetic, its not... its just garbage and pain... u know whats better... love"
This is the reason I upendo this scene. I see it as Haley acknoledging the true essence of Leyton...pain and garbage!
I loosely interpret her quote as: the romantic notion represents his novels, and the angsty upendo that he and Peyton share. And, even though they share a great upendo for one another, and for art and many of the same things, that their upendo has never been that poetic healing love, au the epic "meant to be" story. That in fact it was zaidi so how they wished it would be.
Bottom line, what it sounds like Haley is saying to Luke is not propose to Peyton wewe upendo her. What I have seen many Leytoners predict. It is let it go Luke, I know its hard, but wewe have to let it go before it destroys you, and her, both. Haley asked Peyton earlier in the season if she loved him au just the idea of him. Peyton's response was: "if im being honest, I guess both. I guess I miss what we would be" au something along those lines. I think it had a greater impact on Haley than was represented in that scene. I feel like she caught a glimpse of Peyton's extreme need for love, and to be loved then and was starting to swali that love.
See, before Lukes wedding she told him not to marry Lindsey, because of the novel, and how she felt it proved he still loved Peyton. I think that the finale scene between Laley is a dedication and afirmation to her journey in understanding Lucas, his hidden emotions, desires, and his loves. She always knew he was complicated, but I think as she matured she gained perspective on his outlook, and zaidi in tune to his actions rather than his words. I also think that as she grew this season, she realized that Leyton was an idealism, and not a reality. Her words IMO are a blessing, for him to follow his heart, and not this notion that he and Peyton are "meant to be" against all odds. It also seems like its her way of saying sorry. So then when he goes to Peyton and apologies, explaining that yes its hard to see her, it still is, but he moved on. I see it as his attempt at letting her go.
Brooke, and even Lindsey have shared loves with Lucas that have picked him up out of the darkness. Peyton on the other hand tends to create it. I guess I just hope Lucas hears what I heard in Haley and Nathan's words and moves on. And of course if I had my way, he would end up with Brooke. Why? Because I can't think of anyone else who helps Lucas escape the pain and garbage, au is at zaidi ease with. To me...that's love.
