	Swanpride picked Kocoum – he was asking for it kwa attacking John Smith: I go by motivation. Pocahontas and John were in love and they wanted to prevent a war. Nakoma was afraid for Pocahontas. To me, she is the most innocent of the people directly involved. Thomas wanted to rescue John. Kokoum - He didn't attack because he thought that Pocahontas was in danger, he did it because he was jealous. Plus, he was the one who iniciated the attack. 	ladyhadhafang picked Ratcliffe – he sent Thomas to follow John Smith: I think ultimately, everyone had a hand in the damn thing, but it was a series of misunderstandings, only aggravated by Ratcliffe. I mean, he was looking for any excuse to go to war with the natives, and when it turned out that Smith was captured after Thomas had to kill Kocoum to save his life (poor Thomas. :( ), he pretty much thought, "Hey! Opportunity!" Hell, he wasn't even angry that Smith had been captured and scheduled to be executed; he just wanted to get stinking rich. TL;DR, Ratcliffe pretty much exploited Thomas' guilt and confusion after having to kill Kocoum to save his friend, and the rising tensions between the natives -- he didn't care about who got hurt as long as he got what he wanted (him trying to rekindle the war after Pocahontas ended it, and shooting Smith in the process -- granted, accidentally considering Smith took the bullet for the chief -- with no remorse for his actions). After all, Smith was his friend -- perhaps it wasn't the wisest course of action to take, but...sighs The scene where Kocoum attacks John absolutely terrified me as a child. Don't ask why, it just did. Looking at it through Thomas' point of view, I think his first reaction would be, "Oh shit." And shooting Kocoum just to save Smith's life. And, of course, Ratcliffe taking advantage of it to stir up the settlers to attack the natives. Seriously, for a blustering idiot, he's definitely a devious sonuvabitch, I must say.
