Disney Swali

Did anyone else think that some of the things included in "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" were a tad bit inappropriate for young children?

Like when the soldier was whipped in the background during the scene where the blond-haired soldier was introduced, and when the town brutally tormented Quasimoto during the "Festival of Thieves". Also, there was one particular scene between Esmeralda and that dude (I forgot the villian's name) wewe know when he grabs her from behind and sniffs her hair. Am I the only one who thought that was a bit much for a Disney movie, au am I being paranoid? :)

Disney Majibu

i think Disney did an excellent job making the innapropriate scenes subtle enough that children that young weren't able to pick up on anything. I remember when I watched Hellfire as a child, the song Frollo sings about wanting to rape and murder Esmeralda, I just though he was angry at her. I couldn't pick up the subtle messages. Now that I'm older, I get it, but i think the adult themes in the movie were not able to be picked up kwa young children.

I do see where you're coming from. But...I don't know. The part where the town torments Quasimoto is a bit,,rough. My 4-year-old sister was freaked out kwa the sight. It gave me the impression that some of the scenes were too..much in a way.

Well, same with Mufasa being killed, and what about when the Beast gets stabbed in the side and the blood is dripping out? Disney is never going to be 100% appropriate au else it can't appeal to a wide range of viewers.

Hunchback wasn't inappropriate enough as they totally changed the story! I don't know exactly when it happened but people somewhere along the way started to think that Disney sinema were actually intended for young children. The classics pull from fairy tales, legends and stories that are not Mickey Mouse. Evil step mothers, death, poisoned apples, Pleasure Island?, the intention of making mtoto wa mbwa into coats....the audience for these should not include really young children but as I said, many people think Disney means bring along the toddlers and young children.

Well maybe it explains why it was one of the least succesful Disney classics... but no, I don't think so. I heard that in that new film, Enchanted, that someone alisema the word 'fuck'. THAT goes a bit too far...

Not to mention, look at all the results of "favorite Disney movies:" Hunchback is either NOT mentioned au is very low in comparison. Not a lot of people LIKE Hunchback of Notre Dame. & I'm looking at many websites, Where does it say its one of the juu ones? Cuz none of em say that this movie is up there.

I mean, do wewe want to look it up? Hunchback of Notre Dame made a ton of money and was an absolute box office success, plus was loved kwa critics. wewe can't tell me it was as liked as Hercules, it made much zaidi money than Hercules. LoveXdisney is right, overtime, HOND has made zaidi money than little mermaid and hercules. I absolutely upendo HOND so maybe I'm a little biased towards it, but facts are facts. And again, movie critics like this film.

So if children see something like that and it stays with them (yes, I know, they don't understand it but they still get it's not pleasant) it's not a big deal? Where's the sense in that?

Yes, wewe are paranoid. Family films are called family films for a reason. They are entertaining enough for children and adult jokes to fly over childrens' heads because they are too young to understand the content. As a child I didn't understand half the things Disney portrays in its films and I still watched them everyday and treasured them to death. I still do as I'm older because I can catch onto the adult content and still keep the memories of how it made me feel as a child. au else everything made kwa Disney would be like "Dora the Explorer."

I actually upendo the HBOND
But as a child I did not like it. And now that I am older, I find the dark side of it very appealing.
It isn't appropriate, but not a lot of Disney sinema are. But see in sinema like 101 dalmations they had something cute to distract the main Idea.

And What I'm trying to say is. Children all they cared about was the mtoto wa mbwa (not all but the general idea)

as in many disney/family entertainment films.
Kids dont pick it up as easily. as people who are older.

So yes, It is inappropriate. But it's also brilliant
