Ellie was a goth charcter at first. In the episode "Whisper to a Scream" her dad leaves her and her mother to go to the army and her mother shows signs being an alcoholic. After her father goes away, she cuts herself with her pencil holder edge. She begins a fake relationship with Marco Del Rossi. She also finds out Caitlin Ryan was kissing HER boyfriend Jesse. Then she rooms with Paige, Marco, and Griffin for a mwaka and they all songesha out and go on with their lives. In Degrassi Goes Hollywood she runs into Craig Manning who she is crushing on but she insists she doesn't. Then she finds out Craig has a girlfriend. At Paige's party the inayofuata siku Craig tries to tell Ellie he is in upendo with her but she is drunk and Marco and Craig fall in the pool and Ellie falls waist deep into the ocean. The inayofuata siku she kisses Craig ad visits her sick father in the hospital.
