Help needed with makala formatting!

So. On the side of an makala it explains that if wewe pakia some bottom images, wewe can then embed them in the article. However, I am uploading picha and trying to embed INTO the article, but all they do is onyesha up at the very bottom.

Am I doing something wrong? I'll have a line of text that says in the portion where I want the picha to be placed, and still the picha will be stuck at the bottom. Help me pls!

For some reason it deleted all of what I wrote, but I added that my lines of code will look like this: [img<1><left><medium>]. Is that wrong? If not, I don't understand why it isn't working.
