'Game of Thrones' Producer Says Jon Snow Is 'Deader Than Dead' and More Comic-Con Highlights
The HBO show's producers really want us to think Jon is dead.
Winter came to Hall H at Comic-Con on Friday as Seth Meyers hosted one of the most anticipated panels of the year. Fans immediately noticed that Kit Harington wasn\'t in attendance, which was a disappointment after the end of the last season, but producer David Nutter did tell a story about telling Barack Obama that Jon Snow is "deader than dead." Unfortunately, no new footage was shown in the panel, but with Seth Meyers hosting, it was still plenty of fun. Here are the highlights.
panel didn\'t include any new footage or news. The panelists were very hush-hush about the next season, but fans (understandably) tried to get
out of them. At one point three fans in a row were shut down while trying to find creative ways of getting the panelists to talk about what\'s coming.
Seth explained: "They\'re going to have a lot of trouble answering questions about Season 6 because I asked them backstage and got nothin\' and I\'m pretty famous."
Natalie Dorner added: "A lot of us sitting at this table are in the same position as you guys. David and Dan keep their cards very close to their chests. So we don\'t know what the eff is going to happen."
2. The Producer Told the President that Jon Snow Is Dead
Producer David Nutter disappointed a lot of hopeful fans when he told a story about meeting Barack Obama recently. He said the President asked him, "You didn\'t kill Jon Snow did you?" He replied: "Mr. President, Jon Snow is deader than dead."
Maybe Nutter is just trying to throw people off, but his story bodes poorly for Kit Harington\'s return to the show. When asked who would miss Harington the most, Maisie Williams chimed in, joking "We couldn\'t wait for him to be gone to be honest. That hair? So annoying."
Seth Meyers welcomed Alfie Allen to the stage, saying it was nice to see him with all his fingers and toes. Allen has gone through three very rough seasons on the show as Theon was turned into Reek by Ramsay Bolton. At the end of Season 5, we saw a glimmer of hope for his character as he runs away with Sansa, and he\'s enjoyed the journey.
"As an actor it would have been interesting to see it keep going [with Ramsay], perhaps it would have gone darker," he said. "But it is nice to see a light at the end of the tunnel. I am human."
John Bradley was asked about how he thought Sam and Gilly\'s relationship might develop in the next season, responding: "I think Sam will just happily accept more of the same. I don\'t think Sam is the type of person who tries to inject a little exotica into his sex life."
He explained Sam\'s perspective further: "I\'ve often said that up until Gilly, I think Sam thought about sex the way most people think about space. It\'s something that goes on. He\'s got nothing to do with it."
5. Brienne Feels Terrible About Not Seeing That Candle
Seth Meyers immediately called out Gwendoline Christie for not seeing Sansa\'s candle last season, thus failing to rescue her from Ramsay Bolton. Christie assured fans that she felt terrible about that.
"What can I say? I had to stand for three months watching a window to look for a candle. Give me a break." Later when she was asked what she would do differently if her character could go back and do it again, she replied: "I would wait for the candle."
Sansa Stark had a rough season, but by far the most controversial moment in her story arc came on her wedding night after marrying Ramsay Bolton. One fan who took issue with the scene argued that it diminished her character, but Turner disagreed.
"One thing that Sansa is despite the scene is strong," she said. "She\'s not to blame for that." She added that Sansa had grown more cunning over the years thanks to being around the likes of Cersei Lannister and Margaery Tyrell. "She thought it through in her head," Turner said of the wedding night. "She could have fought back, but she didn\'t want to. She\'s someone who does her scheming in her mind."
Carice van Houten was asked what it was like to play such an interesting and complex character who\'s also seen mostly as a villain, and she replied, "I\'ve never had so much hatemail." Despite that, she said, "I love to play this character, especially last season where it sort of starts to crumble a little bit. And in that last scene she starts to realize she was quite wrong. I love to play her."
But while those fans might think they hate her, they don\'t hate her nearly as much as Davos Seaworth. Seth Meyers suggested that Stannis\'s death might be a good thing for Davos because now the old smuggler might be able to smile more often. But Liam Cunningham didn\'t think so. "I don\'t think that\'s going to happen, especially when he finds out what
