I can not believe I finally brought this to the end.
It's a roller coaster of emotions. Or, I just feel like it is. O.o XD
Anyway... I want to say thanks to all of wewe that waited patiently for me to get better and finally post a chapter after chapter :P
And here it is... I am not yet sure I'm fully content with the epilogue, but it's really close to what I've imagined, (the other version of it couldn't be done with just 24 chapters I've wrote :P )
Thank wewe again... I'm not sure if I have a new Huli FF in mind... but if I do, you'll be the first ones to know...
And after all.. who knows what's going to happen on GGs tonight ;))))))))

Epilogue
A bit less than a mwaka later, courtroom
“Please rise” Hugh heard being announced an saa after he entered the courtroom.
The judge, was late. The judge was late and Hugh had a whole hour, a whole saa he didn't need, to recall everything, everything that happened to him and his family.
One whole saa he couldn't afford himself to have spare.
An saa that made him remember how she'd come clean. How she'd told him after he'd asked- that it was just comfort, an 'affair' that it hadn't meant to be one... That she'd regretted.
“You cheated?” Hugh asked the dakika he entered the master bedroom, a few moments after finding the twins.
Hugh's voice startled Lisa making her drop the book she'd been reading. She tried to say something, but all that came from her mouth were silent vowels.
“Answer me!” Hugh demanded, being really angry with his discovery.
“It was...” Lisa's eyes filled with tears “It was one time...” she said, her voice drenched with what wewe could recognize as only fright “You were away... And I needed help, so much” the tears started sliding down her cheeks.
“Why didn't wewe tell me?” Hugh asked exhaling heavily “You let me believe... That I... That I was to blame for... for what was going on between us!” He approached the chair Lisa was sitting in and hovered above her.
“Why didn't wewe tell me?” he almost begged
“Because I didn't want wewe to leave again...” Lisa alisema in a low voice, sobbing.
“Well, guess what? I am leaving” Hugh retorted, his fists clenching with anger, walking out from the master bedroom, for good.
As he stood, he felt himself going numb. He was dull for that whole saa he had... He was dull and possibly deaf.
He was dull and his hands where shaking.
He was dull and he hated himself.
Hugh was sitting on one of the few couches with Lisa inayofuata to him. For whatever reason, he never let go of her hand. It was that small gesture that gave him a bit comfort in the horrible situation.“Mr. Laurie...” the young doctor paused “I'm so sorry, there was not much we could do...”As he broke down in tears, Lisa turned to him, and embraced him in hug.
At least... he had her.
He hated himself for remembering everything. He hated himself for letting his wife... For letting his wife get so much under his skin.
Lisa was often taking Hugh to chajio, chakula cha jioni when he felt like crying. She made him do yoga when he wasn't feeling too well. She organized tennis matches with the kids when she found him going though Jo's pictures.
She was there every time Becca started missing Jo, and she was there for boys when they felt like they didn't want to do anything.
Hugh was really thankful to her for all that she did. If it weren't for her, he would have Lost it a while before.
He hated himself because he realized a lot of things.
Hugh woke up just to find Lisa curled up inayofuata to him. He smiled, he hadn't yet gotten used to waking up inayofuata to her. She was so beautiful, so peaceful. It was a weird thing, waking up to someone again... someone you... loved. He'd finally admitted to himself that he loved her. He wasn't sure when exactly had he started loving her... But nothing would ever change that...He smiled.
He hated himself because he realized he couldn't afford himself to make another mistake in his life.
“Listen to me...” Hugh alisema softly “She had no right to say that... wewe are maybe not her biological mum, but wewe are her mum.” He stroked her hair “ wewe make sure she is doing fine in school, wewe go shopping with her, give her boy advice, are a shoulder to cry on every time she needs you... wewe are her mum, their mum...” Hugh earned himself a soft smile from Lisa
“Don't ever let yourself think you're less than that” his lips joint hers.
As they broke apart, Lisa alisema softly “I upendo you...”
He hated himself because he gazed at his wife and because that made even zaidi memories start flooding back at him.
“Read the note...” Hugh alisema in a low voice, evidently afraid of her answer.
Lisa opened the little ribboned note and tears started flowing again.
“I want wewe beside me, no matter what” she read the last line out loud and grin forming on her face, went straight into Hugh's embrace.
“Does this house come with that ring?” she asked, laughing a bit, and kissing him lightly on the lips.
“Is that a yes?” Hugh grinned at her, still unsure of her answer.
She nodded “No matter what”
He hated himself because he realized how much selfish he had been.
He was still ecstatic about having kids with Lisa. He knew it was zaidi than he ever wanted and wished for. A lot more.
And what made him hate himself was that he knew he was selfish. He just wanted to enjoy his life with Lisa, to enjoy his career, as much as he could. With twins, he had someone else to take care of, someone else had to come first.
He hated himself because when their eyes met, he realized how much they'd had.
“Back to wewe two guys...” Ryan motioned with his hand to Hugh.
“Oh... right... Well, we're together” Hugh alisema a bit slowly. Lisa beamed at his words.
“That's huge!” Ryan looked at his interviewing cards, realizing not one swali he had for the two of them were going to help.
“Yeah... can I just say something? It's the first time I'll ever get a chance so...” Lisa giggled 'I upendo first times' she mouthed as Ryan gave brought the microphone to her “Charles, Becca and Billy... Hi!” Lisa waved at the camera. Hugh took the microphone “You better be doing your homework”
Ryan laughed again “You sure are one happy family... I hope wewe keep it that way”
He hated himself because he whispered to his lawyer he didn't want to proceed with the divorce.
“Well... we should fight zaidi often” she beamed at him, confusing him with her sayings.
“What? Why?” He frowned.. The woman was up to something, and he didn't know what it was. And that couldn't be good, could it?
“Well... turns out, it's our baby formula” she grinned, now catching him completely of the guard.
What was she saying? Was she implying that...
“No way!” He exclaimed not believing what he thought was happening
“Way!” She grinned so much,was she was to grin more, her smile would cover half her face.
“We're going to have a baby!”
He hated himself because he then went to his wife, and took her kwa hand.
“Charles?” Hugh almost couldn't recognize his voice as he spoke
“Yeah...” Charles alisema on the other side of the line, somewhat cheerfully.
“What's...” Hugh paused unsure of what to say, au what to ask “...going on?” he finished with a sigh.
“I became a brother again!” Charles laughed a bit “The twins are healthy and beautiful.” but ended with a, Hugh believed, disappointed voice.
“Oh, are they?” Hugh asked somewhat flatly.
“Yeah, Annabelle and Hannah, I thought wewe should know”
He hated himself because that made her smile.
What was wrong with him? Why did he have to escape happiness? Every time his life was going well, he'd found a way to screw it up. It was like he'd told himself some time long before that he could never be happy.
He was such a pessimist. He was such a jerk.
He was ruining his life.
He hated himself for realizing he hadn't seen that smile in five years.
“What's wrong?” Lisa asked, somewhat flatly, playing with Annabelle's little fingers.
Hugh looked around the master bedroom. He'd missed so much. He'd missed everything that surrounded him. He'd missed his closet, he'd missed his night stand, he'd missed his bed.
He'd missed his wife.
He hated himself for walking out of the courtroom with her. He hated himself for everything...
They'd learnt to accept that, no matter how much they loved each other, nothing was going to enable them to overcome the huge gap there was between them.
The gap that kept them at the end of their nerves, at suspense.
The gap connected with narrow strains of love,passion and the upendo for all the kids they had.
The gap that lacked joy they had once been proud of.
The fact that he had been responsible for its lost, scarred him for life.
And he loved his wife.
He loved Lisa.
“Dad... I don't want to miss Lisa ... I don't want her to leave...” Becca sniffed.
Hugh looked at her in the eyes, they were puffy from crying. He brushed the tears off her cheeks and smiled softly.
“Lisa is not going anywhere...” Hugh nodded at her.
“How do wewe mean?” The teenager shook her head, not realizing what her father was saying.
“I was planning on making her stay forever”
And he did.
