Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
Halestorm, Skid Row + Cinderella Members Rock Nashville Benefit Concert
When it comes to helping out one of their own, the rock community rallies as well or better than most genres. That was on display recently at Nashville’s Mercy Lounge when a number of rock favorites came together to help out Chisa Meador, who was undergoing chemotherapy treatments. Nashville favorites The East Side Gamblers were joined on the bill by Halestorm‘s Lzzy Hale and Joe Hottinger, Skid Row‘s Rachel Bolan and Dave “Snake” Sabo, Cinderella‘s Tom Keifer and Brother Cane and Black Star Riders’ Damon Johnson.
Given the nature of the show, it was not the traditional set for any of the artists. There was plenty of pairings throughout the evening, some unique versions of songs within each act’s catalog and a number of cover songs. As seen in the fan-shot video above, Hale and Hottinger joined Bolan and Sabo on a cover of Skid Row’s “Slave to the Grind.”
The night also found Hale and Hottinger playing acoustic renditions of “Freak Like Me,” “Mz. Hyde,” “Love Bites (So Do I),” “Amen” and “I Miss the Misery” alongside covers of The Beatles’ “Oh! Darling” and Jeff Buckley’s “Lover, You Should’ve Come Over.” The pair also shares the stage with the East Side Gamblers for covers of Black Sabbath’s “Heaven and Hell,” Heart’s “Barracuda” and AC/DC’s “Shake a Leg.”
Bolan and Sabo joined in on “Slave to the Grind,” “Psycho Therapy” and a cover of KISS’ “Take Me.” Keifer helped finish out the night with performances of “Nobody’s Fool” (with Hale) and “Shelter Me” (with Hottinger) alongside a pair of Rolling Stones covers — “Brown Sugar” and “It’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll.” Check out more fan-shot footage from the show below.
Meador was diagnosed with a mild form of lymphoma just over a year ago. Luckily, it was caught in the early stages and is treatable. However, because of the costs of chemotherapy and a lack of insurance, she was initially unable to afford the medication and treatment. Proceeds from the benefit show will help her pay off her bills. There’s also a GoFundMe page if you wish to chip in and help out.
