I'm not saying this applies to everyone but to a majority of people yes. The girls are always sucks to the bad boy pirate who's good looking, obviously they must also be Pirates of The Caribbean fans. They don't seem to mind that he's arrogant, stupid, cares for himself, and tried to kill one of the most beloved characters on the show. Why is this? Because he's good looking! If Hook and Neal switched actors I'm pretty sure Captain Swan and Hook wouldn't be nearly as popular. People say the woman ending up with her baby daddy has been done to death, well the smart woman ending up with the arrogant bad boy has been done even worse. Besides I love that Neal is kind of an average and not particularly handsome guy and Emma is drop dead gorgeous and smoking hot. My mom even said she didn't like Neal that much because he wasn't very cute.

I must say I've seen people giving only his looks as reason to like him or ship CS but for me he is much more than that and so is CS. I know many other people that share the same opinion as I do so I don't think that's the reason CS is so popular. And if you ask me, I think Neal is pretty good looking, too :)

Neal is good looking but not exactly handsome or anything special. When you're comparing Neal and Hook who do you think people will say is more attractive? Hook, obviously.

But only some people ,for example last season I hated Hook (but I loved Colin<3 because of his appearance but also his personnality ,he seems really fun) ,this year I grew to really like Hook's character and not because he's just good looking but because he grew up and the fact that he now has feelings for Emma plays an important role in that change ,he has become more concern and sweeter . What is more I believe that he and Jennifer Morrison have chemistry (and I like some of their scenes) but I don't ship them . For me is Neal/Emma all the way <33 even in the latest episodes Emma have told Hook that the kiss meant nothing and she told Neal she loved him . So I think that yes his good looks may have carried away some people at the beginning but he as a character evolved so my answer is not "entirely" yes.

That's the truth. :) I think Hook is hot and everything and I love him (like I love most villains on this show) but I don't really ship Captain Swan... :/ I mean I'm not against it or anything but I prefer other Emma and Hook ships over this one. I think so. He is good-looking, but for me, the fact that he was a total jerk and tried to kill Rumpel, not to mention his switching loyalties, makes me not ship Captain Swan.

I think Neal is good-looking, but there's a sweetness in his personality and a genuineness which makes me like him. Hook, on the other hand, is arrogant. Tends to happen in good-looking men, real or a character on a show. The ones who are good looking and clueless about it are the best!

It's not why I personally ship CS. That's not to say that I don't know or acknowledge that Colin is extremely good-looking - you'd have to be blind or lying to say otherwise - and I appreciate that because it adds to him as a character, but it has nothing to do with the ship. I ship them for the story and the chemistry between the two actors. Not because of the way they look.

I don't really know about the looks, but I'm pretty sure people wouldn't love them so much if they didn't have the great chemistry they have.

I see a lot of Hook and CS hate...so this question doesn't really make sense to me.
I love Hook and ship CS but it doesn't matter if he's hot or not. I've shipped plenty of ships where I don't find one or both of the characters attractive. It's not about looks. It's about the chemistry, sexual tension, relationship, and storyline between two characters. Don't get me wrong, good looks are a bonus, but not a requirement for a ship.

I think most Captain Swan shippers have well-reasoned opinions about why they ship what they ship (mind you, personally I'd rather have HookQueen). Also, I think it's kind of rude to say that someone likes a character just because of their looks. I happen to think Hook (and a few other characters) is very hot but that factor does not play into why I like him or other characters.

I'm going to answer your superficial question with a question, do you think you would have liked Neal less if he was palyed by Colin?? Because even though Colin is very attractive thats not what drew the fans in, what really made take an inference to hook, is because despite his piracy he seemed to have well manners, he seemed to have some kind of nobility, that was proved in first 2 episodes of hook, he was never in the black or the white area, he was in th grey area, I watched 2x05-2x06, and of course at first I didn't like him that much he was involved with a married women, which sucks like hell, despite this fact he was brave enough to face the dark one when he knew he would die, because he loved Milah that much, he covered for her and lied to the dark one because he was protecting her secret. The fact is yes he might be the other guy or whatever but guess what Milah is the one who left her son not him, she's grown ass women who can make her decisions, and judging by what we saw of her, she's very strong welled no one would ever make her do something she doesn't want to do.

In 2x06 after he and Emma climbed the tree and he noticed that she got hurt he told her "you'd bleeding let me help" I was superiased I mean why would he care, he really I'd seem genuin enough of wanting to help her with her cut, I sarated giving benifet of doubt right there because he really just seemed real, like the real him no scem, no jocks just simply him, what really made start to trust him a little is that when Emma asked him about the tatto he told her more or less is to why he wants to kill gold, because his love was taken way from him, again he didn't lie,pretend, or jock about it. When Emma left him I knew he would back to Cora and who could blame him he was honest with Emma since the moment they meet he even interdused himself as killian jones and not hook, she betrayed him for it

But like I said that's what I like about him he's in the grey area, not evil and not good, between the two. It did annoy me a bite how obsessed he as with the revenge because it made his character just kind of centered around one thing and one thing only p, but as we saw in the later episodes he's more than that he wanted to have a family with Milah p, and he loved Neal like a son/little brother and took care of him.

And well as see now in S3 there's so much to him more than just revenge which made love crazy, what I love about him. Is having his own moral/code "good form" that he follows, that he's loyal to the person he cares about, that he has faith in good thing could happen, I'm not saying he's a saint but theres a lot more to him than just "good looks", he's like everybody else a bit lost but always wants to be the best image of himself now tell me what's so wrong with that??

As for Neal yes, he's not tha hot/attractive, and despite him being a coward, leaving Emma to roat in jail for his crime(please don't give the crap about he did it because he had no choice crap) because he did even though I don't understand or agree with his & August plan as leave Emma alone yet again to fulfill her destiny
( because snow was supose to be with her to help her fulfill this big desitny and august was suppose to be with her to help her do it, so it doesn't make sense to leave her alone to do it all by herself, I mean in the nd Henry helped her do it) that's still does not excuse him for letting her go to jail for god sake. Despite all of that, despite me hating Neal for what he did to Emma, I still like him believe or not, I still love him actually and want him to be happy and have a good relationship with Henry, why because the actor just made love him despite all of that every time, I want to hate him I can't p, he plays Neal too well for you to hate or even find an attractive, I just don't like him with Emma.

So NO it has nothing to do with the fact that Colin is freaking hot as hell, or the fact that Neal is a bit attractive, it has to do with characters and how these two actors play both of their characters so fucking well that you can't hate either character.

I love CaptainSwan because they make a better couple. When I'm watching a scene between Hook and Emma, I'm not thinking about his looks. I'm thinking about how wonderful his character is and how amazing their chemistry is. I read an article once that said that CaptainSwan was meant to heal the wounds that each of them had suffered. They bring out the best in each other. That's why I ship CaptainSwan. Well, one of many reasons.

I saw that you listed some of Hook's "traits". Let me list some of Neal's: arrogant, self-centered, inconsiderate, rude, entitled.. Just to list a few. That's why I don't like Neal. Neal's love for Emma is centered around himself. Hook's love for Emma is selfless. I find the actor that portrays Neal to be attractive. Not in the same way as Hook, sure (everyone's attractive in different ways), but still attractive. I just don't like Neal as a romantic interest for Emma because it's just a horrible idea. Emma would be taking the largest step backwards in terms of character development if she took Neal back. If she did, it should be to realize that she doesn't need him.

I mean, the amount of hatred some people on this spot have for CS/Hook is truly truly pathetic. You can't even make polls about questions/things you actually LIKE. Everything has to be some sort of sordid attempt to vindicate your own personal agenda. It's sad.

Just for the record - (although I KNOW for a fact that certain people here won't take any notice, because they don't consider or read stuff that disagree with their opinions) - CS shippers have many many reasons why they think CS should be together, and many many reasons why they love CS, which have NOTHING to do with how Colin looks. My favorite character on Game of Thrones is Tyrion Lannister and he is supposedly ugly, too short or whatever it doesn't matter. I like Tyrion for the same reasons I like Hook, he's perceptive, he's funny, outspoken, and he has charisma. I could give a rat's patootie whether or not he was so good looking he fogged the glass on my tv or not lol. Let's take Prince Eric from OUAT, sure he's handsome but he's as dull as a dull can get (extremely underwhelming compared to the cartoon). If all Hook was, was hot, then I'd have a problem. Another problem with asking this question is it sounds like a slap in the face to every other male character on the show. So we don't ship Swanfire because he's ugly? That is offensive to everyone involved. I happen to think Neal is handsome, by the way.

Personally i don't like Hook's character, i don't like his comments, i don't like his story BUT i can't help but like him sometimes because he is handsome. I just love seeing him but only that.
