Today is the public memorial for my dad and I feel awful, because of what happened the night before he passed away. I get sick to my stomach every time I think about it. I was coming downstairs and stared at the picha that were on the wall. One of them was a picha of me and dad in 1996. I sat at the meza, jedwali and grandma sat down inayofuata to me. She alisema “ are wewe ready to go”? I alisema “no not really but, let’s go”. She took the car keys off the counter and passed them to me. She alisema “here wewe drive us there”. I alisema “ I don’t know if I can grandma”. She alisema “ please try……. For me”. Prince, Paris, and Blanket followed me out to the car. I turned around and alisema “ where is grandma”? Prince alisema “ she is going in the other car”. I alisema “ she can’t I only have a driver’s permit, I still need an adult in the car with me”. Prince alisema “ she alisema that she trusts you” I alisema “ what if I get pulled over”. Prince alisema ” Alanna, she trusts you, wewe will be fine chill out”. I got in the S.U.V. and alisema “ all three of wewe get in the backseat just in case we crash”. Prince got up from his kiti, kiti cha in the back and alisema ” Alanna look at me”. I looked at him. He alisema “ wewe have not even started the car yet, RELAX”. He sat back down and I turned on the car. When I looked over my shoulder so I could back out of the driveway I was shaking!!!!!!!!!! As we left our mitaani, mtaa I grabbed my cell phone and called grandma. Before I even got the chance to say hello she alisema “ no talking on the phone while wewe are driving” and hung up on me. When we got the Forest Lawn Cemetery there was a cop checking names off the guest orodha as the cars drove in. I looked at Prince and alisema “ oh my god, what should I do”? He alisema “ I have know idea”. I pulled up to the cop and alisema “ hello officer”. He alisema “ hello wewe are Michael’s oldest daughter right”? I alisema “ yes sir”. He alisema “ go ahead and park your car over there”. I drove over to the spot he pointed to. The only spot left was in between two cars, which means I have to parallel park. While I was backing up I alisema “so far so good”. All the sudden I heard BUMP!!!!!!! Forgetting that Blanket was in the car I alisema “SHIT”!!! Blanket alisema “ I’m telling grandma that wewe alisema a bad word”. Prince alisema “ Blanket shhhh”. I got out of the car to take look at the damage but, there was not anything to look at. I alisema “ wewe guys can get out of the car now”. We made it just in time to put the crown on juu of the casket. After that we all sat down. I sat inayofuata to uncle Jermaine. We were the last people to arrive and everyone was waiting for us to get there. Uncle Jermaine whispered “ how slow were wewe driving Alanna “ I alisema “ twenty five miles per hour”. He alisema “ in a forty five mile per saa zone”? I shrugged my shoulders and alisema “ grandma is the one who made me drive without an adult in the car”. After it was over we went to the Staples Center. I drove kwa myself with my siblings again. As we pulled up in front of the building I could see the paparazzi waiting at the door. I alisema “ guys what ever wewe do don’t talk to them”. We all got out of the car and I gave Blanket a piggy back ride inside[like my dad used to do with me when I was little]. I am starting to realize how much my dad and I are alike. When we got inside I saw grandma in the front row and went up to her. She alisema “ where have wewe been, wewe are 15 dakika late” I helped Blanket off my back and alisema “ sorry Blanket needed to use the bathroom and I had to find a place where he could go”. At the end of the memorial Paris told everyone how much she loved our dad.
