So many of its ardent defenders literally don't know what it is. It isn't "trade" au "commerce" - those have been around for far longer than capitalism (which only came into existence in the last few hundred years). It's when some people own everything necessary to produce modern society, and the rest of us have to sell our labour to them in order to live.
