"12 Monkeys" season 2, episode 2 saw Cassie and Cole destroy the virus that would ultimately kill almost all of humanity in the future. Unfortunately, the plague wasn\'t stopped, it was just delayed. The virus was unleashed in 2018 instead of 2016.

Still, it gave hope to Dr. Jones and Cole that they are on the right path and that the plague can be stopped. However, it isn\'t the plague that\'s the main problem now, it\'s the Messengers. Towards the end of "Primary," we learned that at least one of the Messengers traveled to 1944.

Here are three things we learned about episode 3 "One Hundred Years" from the promo, synopsis and a sneak peek video:

1. The Messengers went to 1944 to kill someone important

The preview makes it clear that the Messengers want to kill an important man named Crawford. Cassie and Cole travel to New York in 1944 to stop them and find out their plan. Unfortunately, it looks like the man the Messengers planned to kill does die.

The Army of the 12 Monkeys\' assassination plan has also been teased in the episode\'s synopsis (via SpoilerTV). It states:

Despite the growing tension between them, Cole and Cassie travel to 1940s New York during World War II to track down a dangerously seductive member of the Twelve who\'s plotting an assassination.

Whenever there\'s an explosion, there is cause for worry. Nevertheless, it\'s hard to make out if the blast occurs in the future or in 1944.

3. The Messengers aren\'t afraid to kill — and assume other people\'s identities

A sneak peek video of the upcoming "12 Monkeys" episode shows two Messengers killing a couple in order to assume their identities.

Additionally, Entertainment Weekly reported that the upcoming episodes will also tell us more about Primaries — people like Jennifer Goines who are uniquely connected to time. We will also see Jones\' new lover, Dr. Eckland, try to break down her walls.

"12 Monkeys" season 2, episode 3 premieres Monday, May 2, at 9 p.m. EST on Syfy.
