LYRICS :
Banegi asha ek din teri yeh nirasha
kahe ko roye chahe jo hoye, safal hogi teri aradhana
kahe ko roye
aankhen teri kahe nadan, chalak gayi gagar saman
sama jayey iss me tufan, jiya tera sagar saman
janey kyo tune yu, asuvan se nain bhigoye
kahe ko roye
kahee pe hai sukh kee chhaya, kahee pe hai dukho kaa dhup
bura bhala jaisa bhi hai, yahi toh hai bagiya kaa rup
phulo se, kanto se, mali ne har piroye
kahe ko roye
diya tute toh hai mati, jale toh yeh jyoti bane
ansu bahe toh hai pani, ruke toh yeh moti bane
yeh moti ankho kee, poonji hai yeh naa khoye
kahe ko roye
Aradhna (1969)
Like Jhumroo, the very first scene of the movie Aradhna shows Sharmila Tagore kusoma a book on a train, while Rajesh Khanna is imba ‘Mere Sapnon Ki Raani’ in an open jeep running alongside the tracks. The guitar, gitaa chords, harmonica pieces and the racy beats all add up to the rhythm of a moving train which becomes the backdrop for this wonderful song. Beautifully shot, the song did wonders for three people, Rajesh Khanna, Kishore Kumar and R.D.Burman. Though the muziki of the movie is credited to S.D. Burman, it is well known that R.D. composed the Kishore gems ‘Mere sapnon ki raani’ and ‘Roop tera mastana’, as his father was very ill. He used Kishore Kumar as the voice for Rajesh Khanna instead of Rafi and the rest as they say is musical history.
