Anyway... I'm asexual and aromantic au aro/ace. So, wewe can imagine how disappointed and not really surprised that apparently we still live in the dark ages. And so I've come up with 10 bila mpangilio maswali about me and being aro/ace. Now this is just from my personal experience others maybe different but hopefully I can open some minds. 😊
1. Am I robot?
Uh, no and I do have feelings and the capacity to love. Asexuals are not cybermen.
2. Have I ever had a boyfriend?
Yeah, not kwa choice! Honestly, worse thing I ever did. I had so-called Marafiki that pressured me and were nagging me to admit to any crush and that I had to get kissed (that never happen btw. Whew!). Thank god, it only lasted a week!
3. Am I happier than I was before realizing I was Aro/Ace?
Yes, because I now know what I am. I don't have to keep lying to myself au pretending, anymore. It's the best feeling for me ever. Lying does not feel good.
4. How did I know I was Aro/Ace?
Strangely, it was from a fanfic. Now I always knew I had these feelings but I didn't know what it was called. Asexuality was just a term in science class when I was growing up. So when I read this fanfic I suddenly had a name and it felt wonderful! But it's sad I had to learn that way instead of being educated, first. I always believed that there should be zaidi education about asexuality and other sexualities.
5. What was my parent(s) reaction when I told them.
Surprisingly, my dad took it well. And he is so supportive! Just the best! Unfortunately, I never had a chance to tell my mom but I know she would support me, too. She knew how I felt and was very understanding.
6. Do I fear being alone?
Sometimes, but my mom always told me there are worst things than being alone. And if being happy with myself means growing old alone, I'm fine with that.
7.Do I like romantic movies?
Yeah, but I do admit I have a habit of leaving a room during a sex scene! *lol* Ugh!
8.Have I ever had a crush?
No, I've lied about it to cover up in front of my friends. Not something I'm proud of.
9.Have I ever had awkward moments with non-asexuals?
Yeah, but it doesn't bother me. We're all human. But if they go too far then we have a problem.
10. Do I get frustrated kwa T.V, books, music, etc... for ignoring au just getting Asexuality wrong?
Of course, it annoying. Because a lot of times the media comes up with stupid theories about asexuals and while it makes for 'great' entertainment, it's not true and it's dangerous. It's also laughable sometimes. But it does aggravate me. We need zaidi education au Hollywood needs there butts kicked between there earlobes whichever comes first! *lol*
So that's it! Like I alisema these are just my opinions and personal experiences. But the main point is we're all human! 🏳🌈 And we're not broken!
